serves me right.
after our flood in 2006, and the trans crapped out, i figured, "hey! im going to force myself to getting the car painted by tearing off the fascias, fenders, hood and doors. and while im at it, i want to reduce some weight by gutting the doors and installing lexan fixed windows."

so i gutted the doors and i wasnt very inspired about putting the door/window parts in any specific location because i was hell bent on installing the lexan kit and thought i wont have any need whatsoever for the stock window junk.

ok. so then i lost interest in the Camaro for a few years because of financial reasons and whatever.

NOW im just trying to get back to the track this year and if it wasnt for some stupid rule about needing some sort of windows installed, i wouldnt be trying to put them back in since i cant afford the lexan windows and installation kit.

so. i go hunting for all the stock parts. is it possible in any way shape of form these things can just vanish into thin air? i have gone over every square inch of the garage, upstairs and downstairs at least 3x if not 5x. i can only find the drivers side window motor assembly and all the brackets for both doors minus 1 small bracket for the drivers door. i know for a FACT it did not get thrown out, i dont throw out any car parts, never. yet, it is GONE. prolly hiding with that other white sock i cant find.

some good news is, ... the local junk yard has a weekend "special", any door, tailgate, fender, bumper or hood, .... $15.

so i might go grab an entire passenger side door complete with all the window guts and all even though all i need is the motor assembly, but then i will have a spare window and door as long as it has no rust.

so yeh, today i put together the drivers side window assembly. getting the window in is MUCH easier with the door off the car. i also had to get "peel" rivets to reattach the motor assembly to the door. but what an over all pain in the a$$.

you ever curse yourself and your own "bright" ideas?

HA HA... well. went to the junkyard kinda expecting to pick up an entire door, since they are having the special, .... but ended up just gutting a door there in the yard like normal. took me like 10 - 15 mins and i had the window motor assembly out. WAY faster than i expected but over the last few days ive become very familiar with this.

took the window motor assembly to the counter before the exit and the guy rings me up for 30 fukkin dollars! i said "your kidding me right? an entire door is 15$ this weekend, right? so i have to go back and drag a door thru here to save 15$?" He replied "you have a point" and sold me it for 15$ and i was outta there, but DANG, if doors werent on "special" this weekend, JUST the window assembly woulda cost me 30 freakin bucks?? from a junkyard?? i think thats a bit regoddamndickulous.

anyway, i got home, and have both doors all back together again. holy crap. i swear each door weighs 100# each. id really like to get the fiberglass racing doors, but dang, what are they, 250$ each? id even like to get the lexan windows still, but not being able to roll down your windows isnt very desirable. specially since most race days it always seems to be 85* degrees or hotter rather than 85* or cooler.

meanwhile. still waiting on my tranny. ordered an adjustable torque arm, they said it was back ordered and might ship at the end of this coming week.

That is high considering you can go to autozone spend $10 more and have a lifetime warranty ;)
