Takes me 2-3 hours to pull it out the top and dissasemble everything.Swapped my motor into another car in 1 day running to running.
I have alot of pics. Most of the parts are here but the engine bay is getting painted and alot of engine parts are getting powder coated. The motor should be assembled the rest of the way before the Dyno Day.
I might still get a K-member to knock off some weight --well,so I won't feel bad putting the AC back in.
I'm sure the car will run 9's but I just need to run the 10.5 class next year.

The ETP heads are one of the best heads out there from all the testing we did. They worked better than TFS and AFR's.The problem with them was the valve springs were weak so we just changed them the a better dual.Another bad part is they went under too.
These got fully hand ported by Rich at WCCH.They were 225 heads and now are at 235cc running 2.125" intake valves.Springs are the new TSP .700 lift shimmed for my .640" lift Cam.
Hopefully my Edelbrok Super Victor intake shows up so I can port match that and get this motor back in the car.

I know flow wise they rock and make good power, just know a few people who have had problems with them, I would guess you probably know more about massaging them then they did. I know 2 people that had problems fitting an intake manifold to them (unmilled), but that was a few years ago, maybe it's been fixed.

Keep believing that.....that intake is great for a big cube engine, the Victor is just too big for a 346 unless you have a ridiculous race only cam. It's like putting a 103MM Fast on.

even the Vic JR is pretty beefy for a 346, the FAST will crush it on the low end

I agree but if you running a stalled auto the Vic junior might give better ET's.
I'm running the Victor because the low end loss doesn't matter since the engine will be singing 5800-7000rpm at the track.
ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-05-2009, 01:14 AM
So basically it all depends on the application of the engine to denote what intake to use. and would you recomend it for a 346 street/strip would be the next question? im asking because i also want to use one on my motor. BUT you dont have the experience with the LT's so i ask about the LS instead haha
My84Z
11-05-2009, 01:33 AM
it would depend on how radical the h/c is Mike avg h/c a fast is plenty but for a more wild set up the carb is better. carb setup is made for a higher rpm powerband and less down low. However I really don't think the stock lt1 intake is that bad atleast until the 550+ range.
ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-05-2009, 01:50 AM
See and thats why i dont want to change it!! haha i just want to find the bottle necks. theres no need for that thing to fall on its face at 5500 like it does! Sorry for the Highjack Don!!

Very true, should have prefaced it with "A street car", vic JR would be good in a big cam high stall race application where low end isn't a necessity

Someday I'll take the time and actually test back - back a FAST against a Carb intake while the car sit's on the dyno.Would like to see what it does on a 346ci.

I've seen it with the GMPP intake and FAST 90 once, the GMPP intake made about 15 more up top with an 850, but the FAST had a better curve and Average power, not sure how they would have been against each other at the track. I am also willing to bet the FAST is alot more efficient in a street or street/strip application, But I do love the feeling of big secondaries opening up on a 4 BBl :)

But if you use a 90 degree elbow that works as a runner which can promote midrange power.

probably due to the runners being so long the thing chokes on the top end sort of like the TPI cars. i wonder if some one chopped an inch or two out of the runners weld it back up and port match the runners back together if it would work. I would think it should pull a bit better sort of like a sheet metal intake with smaller ports.

Same as before. My fuel lines will be here today. So they'll get done. The elbow is suppose to be shipped today, they are flow testing it right now and making adjustments.I'm getting scared that I might need that VFN 4" WS6 style hood to clear this intake.

I was trying something new. The valve event's just ended up wrong and the power curve shifted too high in the rpm band. The Cam wanted to rev to 8000rpm which is too high.
Next Cam will be a 108LSA at 240+ duration.Should lope alittle.

Doesn't happen often but the C5R block,Dragon slayer crank and ETP heads were free. As I said it was just labor time which I just paid my worker about 1 weeks pay.
Then I sent everything out for new rods, pistons, bearings adn had the heads re ported, new valves/springs ect. I have about $2k out of my pocket into this drivetrain.

maybe you guys are missing something it cost him 2500 out of pocket..... if you knew who he traded for the labor you would know it is gonna cost him alot cause Brent gets alot of work done to his cars.

Drove the car a few times without a hood. Now I'm waiting probly 4-5 weeks for the hood to show up.
Dropped enough weight that the front of the car was 1" higher.Nothing heating the springs didn't fix.
So,car runs and moves, just need a hood to clear.

Another update. Hood is on,needs some more adjusting but looks like it will line up good. Still don't know if I like it.Luckilly my car rumble's alot to make up for the aggressive hood.
Got about 200 miles on the car.Runs great.Car was over 500hp last time on the dyno with the timing low and the fuel system crapping out.Now the fuel pressure is holding and my A/F diped into the 10's (instead of 14-1) so we'll see when it hit's the dyno again. Got the shiftpoint at 6400rpm which is too low. Will raise it to 7000rpm shortly.
