I've heard that Ma lowered their state taxes from the recent elections. I've got an interview for a job in Windsor CT on Friday that I am PRAYING I get. (My forte' = heavy Equipment operator)
CT is RAPE expensive to live in and a horridly blue state. They charge around $360/year JUST for CAR TAXES. Not sales tax, CAR TAX. My parents are paying over $3000/yr in taxes for their 1100 sq ft ranch built in 1956. (My property taxes for a 1222 sqft home built in 1979 in NM were $1200/yr) CT state sales tax is 6% God knows about the income tax.
The cost of living in CT is just soo damn high it's unreal and my monthly budget is around $2200/mo JUST for basic cost of living and two bills. Now that would actually go up to around $2500/mo with the truck loan. CT is also ANAL about ATV's.. Hunting quads are ok, but a sport quad OH NO!! You'd BETTER not get caught with one.. Everything is "private property" and these rich assholes get all bent out of shape whenever they HEAR you start your quad. My uncle had a neighbor call the cops on him because he took his dirt bike around the culdesac at the end of his DW.. He wasn't even out 5 minutes.
If I can move to mass, I will.
Ideas?

MA state sales tax is 6.25%, income tax is around 5%, and car excise tax is $25 per $1000 book value (in my experience they tend to under value cars). From what I understand there are not many good places for ATV riding. And don't move up here if you want to complain about things being "blue", that's what Nebraska is for.
And I thought mass was a blue state lol
well us rich fuckers who overpay taxes dont have vehicle safety inspections lol.
depending on the mil rate of the town you live in will dictate what your taxes will be.
where i live the mil rate is 22.59%

Mill rate is what your taxes are based on, every town has a different rate.
The property tax rate is expressed in mills or thousandths of a dollar. A tax rate (mill rate) of 11.74 mills is equivalent to $11.74 of taxes per $1,000 of assessed value. In Connecticut the property assessment is equal to 70% of the fair market value of the property as established by the municipal Assessor. Each town sets its own mill rate; some municipalities have different mill rates for different districts within that town. Assessment dates for property on the Grand List must be assessed by October 1st of the preceding year. So for property taxes due July 1st, 2010 and January 1, 2011 are determined from assessments computed by the town assessor prior to October 1, 2009. Typically the majority of Connecticut towns, real property taxes are payable for the current tax year on July 1st and January 1st, this is the same as the state’s fiscal year. But in some towns payments are made quarterly so check with town hall first.

tons of snowmobiling out by me, miles of trails run and maintained by the snowbirds. you could go out all day and still not hit all the trails.
