Well, finally getting to it. Here's how my poor 68 sat a few days ago and what we had to dig through:

Well, between me and my other half I'd say we have about 7 hours worth of shoveling and snowblowing to get to the car as well as be able to get the other two cars out of our way. But, here's how it sat all ready to move:

Borrowed the ramp truck, winched it out of it's hole, and moved it into the garage. Here's the empty hole where it sat :D

And here's the garage shots :)
Still a bit of an iceberg as of right now. Even the doors are frozen shut lol. Gonna head down probably tomorrow and thaw it out. Then start tearing it apart probably this week. Build thread coming soon :D

I'm getting really excited. Haven't actually driven the car at all in about 2.5 years and wasn't driving it much for the couple years before that. Miss the hell out of it. I'll have owned it for 18 years come this august.

Is there a lot of rust? What are you going to be starting on? I am looking forward to following your build thread!!!

Yeah there's a lot of crusty spots and structurally there's a lot of metal fatigue. I've literally cracked both rear frame rails twice.
So, this round is going to be new rear frame rails, ditch the fuel cell for a tank in the factory location, new trunk floor, new front floor pans, rework the rear downtubes on the rollcage so I can reinstall a back seat (have kids now and they need a comfy place to sit), graft on a c5 zo6 front clip which will give me power rack and pinion steering, huge front brakes, and modern steering geometry.
Also planning to ditch the 12 bolt rear along with the leaf springs and switch over to a truck arm rear suspension like the NASCAR cup cars use (been going over lots of options there for a while, that style seems to be the best for what I'm looking for). Then run a 9" rear that matches the vette clips track width.
Then, pulling out what's left of my grenaded 455 and swapping in a 6.0 lq4 along with a turbo and adding an extra pedal so I can run a t56 behind it.
That about sums up this years plans and will definitely finish off any spare cash I can dig up lol. The car has been set up as a drag car it's whole life with me but I just never really have the time to get to the track and now that I have a family I want something more useful. I like driving the car. Done both east coast power tours with it and gone to the Woodward dream cruise. I wouldn't subject the family to that torture though the way it was lol.
Time to make it a nicer all around more useful car :)
are you gonna paint it???

I'm just gonna do a few spot repairs on the bad areas for this season and hopefully do the exterior restoration right next year.
I'd love to just do it all now but it's not in the budget this year.

Perhaps a little. :)
I'm just getting really excited. This car has been a huge part of me for over half my life and it being down for the last few years I've felt like I'm missing something. Can't wait to have it back again.

Thank you :)
I could use a couple sacks of used $100's if you have any laying around lol.
Otherwise I'll let you know. Unless of course you're bored during the day. I plan on putting at least 3-4 days a week in on it until it's done, barring any parts/funds delays ;)
Oh, and I put up the official build thread. I started the tear down today. Yay!!!
