dont you need to put the backing plates on befor he axles get the bearings pressed on with the retainers?

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-09-2009, 06:23 AM
Nope my axles are 100% assembled from Moser pressed on with the spacer for LT1 brakes and all. all you do is notch the Bracket to slip snuggly over the axle end near the flange. and just bolt it up.

So i called GM today. the brake brackets Brand New are 51 a piece. Not TOO bad. ill paint em out of the box instead of having some blasted(wich would probably cost me 50 anyway) so im really only spending 50 bux extra for them wich is probably what they would cost new? and ill get drilled and slotted rotors and new calipers and hoses. have it all on the rear end before the swap. should save some time. ill even do the hose and lines while im at it. still gotta figure out a mounting tab for the fuckin hose though.

ls6monte
11-10-2009, 12:50 AM

You know drilled and slotted rotors are just for looks right?

c4boom
11-10-2009, 01:45 AM
the slots help it scrub clean and help them degas at really high temps on the street all it does is increase pad wear

My84Z
11-10-2009, 02:05 AM
get this done already geesh!

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-10-2009, 02:05 AM
there not 100% looks But for all intended street purposes you are correct. But its damn hard to find a set of straight rotors Zinc Coated. and painting them IS an option but just being able to bolt them on and go with out rusty hubs is fine with me.

AND Don!!! Shut IT!!!!!! haha Yes they will actually work!! and ill be getting another dyno run to see that Actual drive train losses threw a 9" if any. just curious.

yeah man i would aghve loved to have you!!! and No to answer your question the axles came pressed and i had to cut a notch in the brake bracket to get em to clear. in the eng it all worked out!! runs good makes a shit ton of noise, either new control arms or spool but wen i turn WTF IS THAT is coming out my rear end. haha

11-16-2009, 05:36 AM

Slowhawk
11-16-2009, 03:42 PM
Spools are not bad.Just make sure the tranny is in neutral on all tight turns. Well, they really suck in the rain but thats about it.

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-16-2009, 03:52 PM
Tranny in neutral?

My84Z
11-16-2009, 03:59 PM
Yeah put in the clutch retard that way no extra stress on the inside axle however I find it is smoother not to do so lol

c4boom
11-16-2009, 04:52 PM
I ran one for 2 years and didnt hate it the only time it realy sucked was when making a real tight turn other than that it was fine and its fun in the rain real easy to wipe side ways lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-16-2009, 10:41 PM
yeah john thats what i found to. it just seems smoother to keep it going in gear. not torqing it up. but just going at it easy.

pussy, before ya go do anything drastic get a decent pair of rear tires on there...

c4boom
11-18-2009, 04:02 AM
I would get an alignment and a good set of tires then decide. I never had that many problems with it only on real tight turns on the normal street it was fine. do you have power steering?

SLP IROC-Z
11-18-2009, 04:11 AM
i didnt have any issues either and that truck had about 2500lbs on the rear tires to, like boomer said only really tight turns esp in reverse.

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-18-2009, 04:30 AM
yeah im getting used to it. noticed my driving habits are starting to change the more i drive it. i think i need an alignment and ill be fine with it. maybe im more pissed off that i HAVE to drive instead of want to drive it. Fuckin dead starter in the S10 and rear brake line blew, im batting 1000!!!!

ILuvPizzaTimes10
11-18-2009, 04:34 AM
yeah its not as bad as i make it seem. its barely noticeable im just super picky and noise isnt my thing. But im getting used to it. and i have my old shit street burnt off half bald on one side and tread left on the other side tires on there. we'll see wen i get my nittos back on there. should be tomorrow.
