View Full Version : EVAP light and me bitching about PCM 4 LESS

So I ripped my EVAP out along with all my other emissions stuff and got a PCM for Less tune. Well I've been displeased with these morons before but this time takes the cake. They plain old forgot to do the EVAP and want me to pay more money to fix their mistake. I told them that I didnt mind the mistake because I know everyone makes them and its not much money but they flat out are refusing to fix their mistake. Their argument was that it was confusing in the email when all I said was.... I need a tune for a 3200 converter, 373s, and the EVAP codes deleted. All I wanted was for them to own up and fix their mistake (which probably costs them nothing anyways). So needless to say I am DONE with that half ass joke of a company. I am aware that Herter is a fantastic LT1 tuner and wish I could just deal with him directly. Can anyone suggest the BEST mail order tuner for the future? Lastly does anyone know someone local (MA) that could quickly remove my EVAP code for say a 12 pack or a pizza or something lol? My inspection sticker is out!!!!
P.s. I am still getting accustomed to the online forum scene so please excuse me if this was posted in the wrong section.

Thanks 941le for the lead!
Well they offered to fix it for like 25 bucks plus the shipping. Honestly though I do not want to have anything to do with these clowns anymore. They fucked up a tune for my buddys Impala SS to. Not to mention their lack of a real phone number or any quick contact.... they are just a joke and my guess is no one would use them if it wasnt for Bryan Herters name.

Save yourself the agrivation and buy the software and a laptop and pay someone to tune the car for you

Whats the cost of that?
Slowhawk advised me to go to a LS1 setup but its so expensive that I will only do that if I keep the car and stroke it. Its for sale and it will be to the end of summer. If it doesnt sell I am going to do a LE2 H/C, the supporting mods and get the suspension in order over the winter. I may do what youve suggested at that point My84Z. Right now though I just want to get rid of the light so I can get my sticker and start driving....more lol. The roads are being swept in my area as we speak and its driving me nutsssssss that I can't... um no..... shouldnt be driving!

If no one local has the ability or wants to thats the plan. Any feeling as far as who to use? Any experience with 941le's suggestion?

Klab has a cable for a 1995. i can get the cable for 1994 and 93. and Jay WS6 has the shit for 1996-7 without digging threw past posts what year is your car? we can get the light turned off. But if the tune is off Anywere else you Really should get it pro tuned before racing. unless you like melted pistons.

When I researched mail order tunes it seemed like people were a lot happier with MadZ28 then PCM For Less.

So your saying for a fee I can use your software Jay? I'm deff good with that if its not outa my price range. Just let me know how much... here or PM I dont care!
Will the regular scanner see if there is anything else wrong on my tune though?
Do I need to bother with a dyno tune if I just have simple boltons??? Oh and how many hours does the tune take?? 250 thats pretty wild hahaha

data log will show if you tune is off just need some one like don to make changes the fee is just recover the coast of the soft wear ill lose a liscence
i can shut off the error report for that code and take care of the check engine light my self , but some like don can only make the changes to timming and spark ,fuel and shifting stuff
as price dude will talk,,, will not be much so dont worry
tune time depends on how well it runs on the dyno 2 hours tops most of the time simpel bolt ons you need to look for knock at wide open throttle ,A/F ratio too

did you get your sticker
Klab has a cable for a 1995..
This is true.
I'm in the same process right now. Car is running very lean and I'm trying to have Don help me maybe use some dyno time so I don't gotta vtek all over the streets trying to get it right. I'm getting an air/fuel gauge and I have tts datamaster and datalogger on my laptop because its the stuff pizza showed me how to use. You might also want to check this program out though, data-logger and tuner:
Tunerpro RT V5 Beta - All in 1 datalogger / tuner (http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread.php?11181-Tunerpro-RT-V5-Beta-All-in-1-datalogger-tuner)
Tunerpro RT V5 Tutorial (http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread.php?12414-Tunerpro-RT-V5-Tutorial)
I already know Pizza's feelings about this new program. :klab:

ugh, always hear bad things about pcm for less.

See I've always had good experiences with PCMforless, and my experience stems from 11 years worth of tunes. I've had at least 5 or 6 re-tunes from them, and had Bryan himself tune the car on the dyno, who got the numbers in my sig.
I dunno, I guess some people are just unlucky? :\

are you close to him and did you go back and forth with logs? that's the only real way to get it right. Other then that it might be close but never right. plus you seem to be close by dyno and tune on the spot is always the best

That's the bottom line with mail order tunes, they will never be spot on for any given car, and the more mods the greater the margin for error.
