new here need help

[98 hoe]

hi im new to the web site but not to the group. i have the 98 tahoe and just recently picked up a 95 camaor lt1 6 speed in may. today something in the lower end let go so now i have to pull the motor and trans. sounds like a bearing also have little to no oil pressure just before motor let go. any input or suggestions would help.

Hello and welcome, I moved your post to the LT1 forum since it deals specifically with LT1s. Unfortunately it definitely sounds like you will need a full rebuild, there's some people on here who are pretty knowledgable on the subject and can help you figure out your options.

Where are you located? Maybe someone could help by recommending a good local engine rebuilder.

the oil pump pick up fell off and you lost oil. it MAY just need a new pump. and the noise your hearing is lifters NOT lower end yet. So i say pull the oilo pan and check it out before you go crazy ripping the motor out. tip for dropping the pan. lift the motor up high enough so the egr JUST about touches the firewall. and then loosen the K member bolts about an inch or so. then the pan should slide out. ohh and dont forget the oil level sensor it will hang up on the pump on the way down and back up.

he did some researchin online and wants to cam it and such now so the motor is going to be comin out some time in the near future

oh we listen...his old man took a look at it and is 99% sure there is something wrong with cylinder 2...i think is what he said i kinda forget lol it makes... alot a noise lol
