well one day after some adjustments i decided to take it for a ride and once in 3rd gear at wide open throttle there was an empty moment where i didnt hear anything...then all of a sudden i saw smoke out the exhaust and hear a rattling noise from under the hood......i was able to coast 3 miles before i had to park it and walk less than a 1/4 mile home.....once i got it home and took it apart i found this...

You gotta take me for a ride sometime this spring man.

Yeah car coming along great. my only question is why turbo and Cast Iron heads. if you ran aluminum youd be able to run a ton more pressure.

they are dart iron eagle platinum 200 heads...got a good deal on them...practically brand new when i bought them before the engine let go....600.00 for the pair.....new thay are like 1400 for the pair....as to why i went turbo was the efficiency was alot better than the roots blower setup i used to run.......i run 14 lbs at the moment with no issues so far. im also at 8.5:1 for a compression ratio

ILuvPizzaTimes10
12-19-2011, 02:34 PM
no issues? didnt you just blow a piston or was that fueling related? 14 psi on 8.5:1 compression will put you in the 12-13:1 dynamic compression range. im not trying to be know it all. just trying to figure out how that things for more then 5 minutes at WOT.

the 1st picture was due to 2 things.....timing and valve float..........at that time i was running almost 10:1 compression......

no i do not run a meth injection setup...i dont have the need for it at the moment.....max boost once the engine is broken in will be 18 psi.....for now i will run 14 lbs with a good tune.....i also run a blow thru CSU 750 carburetor specifically setup for my engine combo....i also do not run a larger camwith high lift either...i dont plan on revving past 6500 as well....the cam that was suggested was a nitrous cam....hydraulic roller.....seems to run well with it

Looks good. Only suggestion I would have is to switch to a much bigger downpipe. That one is probly holding back 60rwhp at minimum and slows the spool time. The small downpipe can also cause engine damage from too much backpressure.

i agree with you but i dont have much room in there....right now its a 3 inch down pipe and 3 inch all the way back..with just a straight thru muffler......it does spool pretty quick.......wish i could fit a bigger pipe in there

tubular k member or you could flatten a 4" flattened out/ovaled doesnt hinder the flow.

When your done make a short downpipe to go out under the car. You won't beleive the difference. After that you'll cut anything to make it fit.

Also watch out with the wastegate dumping back into a restrictive exhaust. It can cause serious boost creep.

already have a tubular k member.....not much room between the header and fire wall
