ohh they will feather Fucker!! soon enough it will all come together. i have looked up quite a bit of info on this whole swap bullshit. and to do a 1998 V6 car all you need is the EFI harness and PCM from a 1998 LS1 and its a direct fit with a V8 Gauge cluster and interior harness. So im on the look out for the 1998 shit. the harness from a 1999 MIGHT be the same but the cluster and pcm are way different. ill also have to change the gas tank and fuel level sender as well if i go 1999 up pcm. so i think ill stick with the 1998 PCM. im sure Don is very good at what he does and with my mild setup the limitations of the 1998 PCM(wich FARRRRR out performs the 1993 ecm) ill have it tuned properly and with no problems after im done.

there is a kit available that eliminates the opti in that kind of conversion. it uses all stock gm parts. I saw a write up on it in GM High Tech I think. you can run using coil packs and make things a little easier for you.

and get a tubular cradle if you dont already.

I dont like the Hatch with the Rear bumper cover off the formy/6 it goes a shit ton better with a T/A bumper Batwings!! haha Im doing it. its not like i need to buy parts i have em just get em all painted along with maybe some touch ups on the car like that white spot on the door if i care wen its done.

OHHH and a Heads up. the lady got me 2 brand new GM headlight motors. a drivers GM window motor. one new GM hinged for the drivers door.... and the list goes on. i cant believe it!! i might sell the headlight motors new gm and get the brass gear for 1/3rd the cost and pocket the diff. who knows but thats fuckin COOOOLLLLL if you ask me!!

WOOT WOOT!!!! checked it all over. its got a bad/missing front O2 connector and a missing oil level sensor. i cant use the level sensor plug so who gives a shit. and the rear O2's will be deleted and ill just use one of those as a pigtail to repair the missing front O2 connector!!! IM GOOD!!!! ill have some pics up tomorrow!

if you have an LS2 or a 1998 LS1 the coils are direct monuted on the covers. similar to that. BUT they dont make Obviously LS1 coil mounting valve covers for classic center bolt valve cover heads. THEY FUckIN SHOULD!!!! but they dont.

you guys really think its THAT big. its only 24mm's its still smaller then a front bar. and it not chromoly it has flew wich is why i went with UMI. Plus there endlink weld on perches make the whole thing not suck. any "drag" bar that uses stock style endlinks is trash IMO.

Got the floors cleaned and sprayed. under hood cleaned and SEMI paint match. duplicolor for NOW but that rust HAD to go before the motor was in there. old 3.8 harness is out. brake booster is out next comes the steering colomn and pedals. then cut the hole for the clutch master and swap over the LT1 pedals. hole for the shifter is cut and cleaned up and seal primed and painted. carpet/entire interior removed cleaned and reinstalled. waiting on a few parts and Hopefully back at it next weekend! ill take some pics soon. KEEP LEAVING MY FUCKIN CAMERA AT WORK!!!!! haha

haha its got a papers width clearance. about .020 so it wont hit and ill get better oil to the chain from now on as well.

on a side note. i bought a Lunati HEAVY DUTY single link belt chain on the first build of this motor. oil pump gear stripped and i did all the bearings and lifters. figured the timing set i paid 200 bux for would be fine. NOPEEEE fuckin thing stretched out and i was losing almost 2 degrees of timing. i bought this 100 dollar comp magnum set and an electric water pump and i still cant feel play in the set. WIN!


And it Does feel GREATTTT to have the motor sitting inside the car now. and with the eibach springs and new upper control arms as well the front end of this car should be in GREAT shape finally!!!

Anyone else do something like this? swap k-mambers and the front suspension with it? im thinkin i need another alignment? we'll see. need to get the FUKIN thing running first. next weekend should be wiring and clutch hydraulics with pedals and its drivable. SHOULD BE!!! thats if i get my crossmember in time! Who has an M6 cross member i can borrow for a week or so? i have the LT1 crossmember in ther now with just 2 bolts holding it up with the torque arm helping. cant drive it like that of course but it shouldnt hurt anything letting it sit.

I was down there and hung out tonight for about an hour. Car is coming along good. Mike is getting the wiring harness all set and Chris was getting the brake lines connected. Whole undercarriage is undercoated black and looks CLEANNNNN!!!!! Awesome wish I could have stayed longer. Can't wait for it to be alive, and Mike thanks a lot for the shifter I appreciate it man. Stupid fuckin place for it. so im either gunna repin the MAF wiring at the PCM or just bring the wiring out to the front of the intake havent decided yet. THANXXXX Boomer was a great help.

So i have the harness up in the car most of its connected. need to make some final splices and connections and she should be ready to start. clutch pedal assembly is in a fully functional, no bleeding or anything just plug and play.

Nah, not that hard to do. Especially once you get it in the right general area.
Done a few t56 conversions in my day. The caprice was the funnest one...

i used an electrical knock out punch to actually create the same ovalized hole in the firewall. BUT i made it a Bit too big and there daylight around the master. ill fix it later not too big a deal. and you can line the 2 bolt holes up one of 2 ways. first you can just bolt up the 5/6 speed pedal assembly in the car WITH! the streeing column out of the car. and theres a bracket fixed to the pedals in the correct location as it sits on the firewall for the Master cylinder hole. use a center punch threw the bracket. pull the pedals back down and start drilling the 2 bolt holes. next you either use a 1 1/2" hole saw or like me a knock out punch and roughly in the middle of the 2 bolt holes make a hole big enough for the master to slip threw. time consuming(pulling column) but not really that difficult.

the second way to line up the holes is drill out the added plate thats on the firewall in a 5/6 speed car and line it up to your firewall. it will only fit up to your firewall were it needs to be and then mark the holes and drill it. again with the column out.


But all in all im close to being done BUT have a bunch of little shit left.
fuel pump, lid/air filter of some sort, interior rewire for the manual pedals and interlocks, rear end still needs to be swapped(ijm thinking after dyno day) and other misc. time consuming shit im forgeting along the way. BUT soon enough it will be started up and "drivable" just not complete. will it ever be complete???

hahaha Dumb ass that was open headers!!! the exhaust is just resting up there. it will look nice wen its done. I LOVEEEEE the Corsa tips under that car. i think im going to keep it ALL formula/firebird. hatch bumper covers the whole thing. its growing on my Big time!!

And i need to finish the rear sway bar install, get my torque arm in from UMI(they fucking TAKE FOREVER!!!!), Tranny relocation crossmember, wire up the fans, oil pressure sending unit(LT1 is WAYY different, didnt know), and then reinstall the y-pipe and I-pipe. then i dunno some Misc interior crap and it should be drivable. minus reverse lights Stupid A4 Harness!!! gotta figure out how to get the wiring in the car and do it RIGHT!!! so far aside from the electric water pump all the wiring looks like its supposed to be there im keeping it that way!
