Through the years people have come to us under the impression we are mostly a tuning shop. The fact is we are mostly a building type of shop and are pretty busy.

So this year we are changing the outside tuning part. At most tuning will be only 1 day a week for people looking to have there cars tuned. We have to do this because our regular jobs back up every year and I just go nut's trying to keep up with everything.

We will also be declining a lot of tuning jobs too. This is due to the quality of work we see on some cars coming in here.In the end it is our problem or our name on a badly running car due to the mechanics of the car.

So, thats about it.
Thanks
Don

If you guys have seen what we have, you would know exactly what we are talking about. Now the trend is 5.3 swaps. Some are good but most are hacked together.

Glad to see you going through with this Don. I know you had mentioned it to me when I stopped by around Christmas time. Glad to see the shop doing well. Still might be calling you this year about that cam! LOL!!!

Has to happen. I feel bad for the people that have to go to other shops around here but it's better for our shop.

There will be exceptions. Like the one day a week will be open, just selective now. Cars we tuned before will still be done. All cars we work on or sell parts to will be in, ect.

Many shops across the country already do this. It would be nice to have a good shop around here to push people towards though.

Looks like as of now I got 1 day every 2 weeks for open new tunes. The other week will be for retunes and tunes for parts bought through us.

This year I'm pushing the shop more towards building cars than outside tunes. We are already booking out 2 months for work and it's not even busy time of the year yet.

WOW!!! Its crazy because I still float around on the classifieds on ls1tech and a lot more cars have your name on them crazy. Good to stay busy.

It is nice but crazy. Our market is shifting to newer corvette's and 5th gen's. Then a few CTSV builds too. I guess the economy is getting better.

Well that's good to hear. sounds like we're gonna see some cool new era cars at dyno day. It would be good if there was someone else in the area that tuned the other LS's and especially LT1's... I thought about focusing on learning LT1 tuning a lot and offering to tune some cars but I just don't have the time now. Oh well.

PS the hacked 5.3 swaps, my buddy picked up a well abused LS car with a quick 5.3 swap done to it. Looks like the previous dude blew the ls1 and just stuck a 5.3 block in there and slapped it together, no retune...

I have been noticing that too. I think the price on 2010-2012 SS have come down alot since the 2014 models have come out. My friend down here has the first 2011 Vert in Florida. Has some nice mods and very low mileage. They only want to give him 26k for it. He wants a new C7. Good luck again. Glad to see the shop thriving and doing well.

Now get that T/A done for the spring! I want to see 4.80s out of that thing!!!

There are some shops around that can do some tuning. Really wish they spent the time to learn it better so I'd feel confident sending people there way.

For LT1's. There is money in that tuning. We get at least 1 call a week for it. I can't recommend anyone for them because we know of no one.

For the dyno day. There will definitely be a lot more 5th gens here along with Vette's.

Sad to say but our focus is mostly 5th gens now. 4th gen is a dying breed. We still do a bit of them but since the prices are getting lower, not too many people want to build the cars right due to budget.

So since tuning changes . Can I have some info on my tune.

I need to know injector size you have for my tune .( you had installed injectors I have no info on them )
2 is my pcm locked if so have it unLocked
3 is my tune with cam able to run other than speed density mode.
That way if i need to have a tune other than your's i have info need to get it retuned.

Why would you ask that here?
The simple answer would be the other tuner would read it and make changed as needed.
It's SD because it has issue's. Pretty sure the issue's were around the smoking issue which was fixed. Car should of been retuned after that but never seen it.
So the car probably needs a full retune.
I never lock them but IF the other tuner can't read it with there stuff I will gladly burn it back to a stock comp. so they can..

I I just found out you have no time to tune let alone lt1

Second you never even ask for it to come back even after last spring Dyno day. When I said it rich at Idel.
You neve told me any info on injectors other than red top ls1. No flow rating .
no I not even talk to another tuner . I am just keeping duck in row since your focus is on 5 th gens and newer now

But if you upset about it

Not upset about anything. I'm not the one to tell people to come back for anything. I know it had an issue about smoking but that wasn't fuel, it was oil. For some reason I think someone told me about valve seals or something?
If they have a full red top- SVO 30lb injectors. As you know a tuner should be able to tell which injectors they are by looking at them or search the part number on them. I do it all the time with cars coming in for tunes. Most people have no idea what injectors are in there.

My focus has changed because the market has changed and I need to make money to survive. Thats it. If I only lived on 4th gen's we would be shut down right now.

100% the right move. I'd say 100% of all the major "nightmare" issues we fought while I worked there that backed up work , were diagnosing other peoples/shops mistakes and 9 times outa 10 it came to us because it was dropped off along with the description "all it needs is a tune" lol

Not a bad move at all. Plus the LS1 computers are gonna be open source soon anyways...

Anyone? :klab:
