IMO if you underdrive the crank you should get the corresponding alternator pulley.

that looks like a powerbond pulley, I have an slp one which is also a powerbond. they are good balancers go for it. I dont run any overdrive pullies and havent had any issues.

An M6 car idles at a higher RPM than an A4 so the alternator pulley is generally considered to be unecessary for manuals.
