LSX: Thanks!!!
ZFreie: That's the one thing I like most. It's almost 5 years old, but it's the lowest mileage vehicle I ever bought.
Dawg: I had the front wheel drive - 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander for eight years and most car guys would say...."Is that your wife's car...HA HA HA". It was reliable, but every day driving that car, I felt one day closer to dying. I only bought it because it was my father-in-law's dad's car (WWII vet) and when he died, my father-in-law (Vietnam vet) really wanted me to buy it. It was a family obligation. Now that is an "Old man" car.
Frank: I live on the top of a mountain now, and you can't get a CTS-V with AWD. I wish I could have though. It would have been nice. Thanks for the compliment on the CTS!

Nice! Congrats Dave!
Thanks Ron! With 32 years of having a DD, it's the only one I'm totally loving. Not as much as the Camaros, but for right now and needing AWD, I don't believe I'd ever buy a different brand.
A friend of mine told me today that I shouldn't have driven a car I'm not into for so long and that life is too short for that.

I like it, and that AWD should come in handy today.

David, you putting snow tires on it for the winter?
I swear by blizzaks, dunno what other people run for tires. Id take snows over awd all day every day my self. Have both and you have a rally car lol

Around here - I swear by Performance Snows - Only a handful of times you really need full snow traction vs. most of the winter with squishy Sidewalls....
Performance Winter Tire Testing (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/TireTestServlet?tireMakeModel=Dunlop_SP+Winter+Spo rt+4D_1)
I've run the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds for years (but the 4D is out now)
Looks like the Michelin PA4 or the Perelli SottoZero 3 provide a little better snow traction than the Dunlops now though
From personal use though - I can tell you it's awesome to not have to give up much on handing while only being forced to drive just a tiny bit more carefully in the white stuff (vs a standard snow)
Performance snows an an AWD Car are pretty much unstoppable - I've driven my Subaru though 8+" parking lots without issue - car goes up my 30 Deg Driveway in 6+" wihout issue (note ~8 it will slide around)...:sCh_elmodance::food-smiley-002:
Ohh - And congrats to Dave on the new DD - That was on the list for our new car - but the Wife doesn't like the look?:trash:

Right now it has all season radials. My initial plan was to leave them on and run the Silverado (it has snow tires on it) when the weather is really rough.
I'll see how it goes, especially today since I brought the car to work.
I might have to put snow tires on it.

Classy!
I can relate to driving a soulless car. I drove a '97 Ford Escort wagon for seven years! Seven!

"Soulless car"......I never heard that phrase before but that's a GREAT way to put it.
I beat you by one year with the Outlander and that car definitely had no soul.
The CTS ran great in about 4" of snow today. Stopping wasn't the greatest though. I totally skidded past a stop and left turn I tried to make but I'm thinking that snow tires might not have helped stopping that much.

Winter tires will make a huge difference in stopping and steering. I almost think they're more important on a 4WD/AWD vehicle because the extra traction creates a false sense of security.
Did you try doing donuts in it?

I think your're right. I was listening to the tunes with no cares in the world and then locked them up before trying to stop and take a left turn.

Not yet.
The Valenti sales guy, Robert, was very thorough going through all the controls and said the only reason to take off the AWD was if you wanted to do some donuts or try drifting. I've only driven it for two days so far and I haven't tried either one yet.

That's cool that you can turn off the AWD though, I assumed it would be permanent.

On the console there is a traction control button.
Press once= traction control off
Press twice within a sec= stabilatrack competitive mode
Press and hold for 5-10 sec = stabilatrack off

Well why the hell not!! Once he said that I probably would have done them in the parking lot:drunk3:
And FYI - Snow tires will really help with stopping - although not so much when you rock out and don't pay any attention to driving (LOL) :shiftyeyes::Superman:

That would have been funny! The sales guy was too nice though. When my wife got a new Nissan, I almost got into a fight with a high-pressure salesman that was trying to sell gap-financing and a bunch of other crap. That guy made the car buying process miserable and I was happy I didn't have to go through that.

Yep. Cranking out the tunes while not paying attention during a snowstorm. That is something I've done. I had to turn off the radio and tell myself to focus.
How it handle in the Snow David?

Real nice Dawg. Not as good as the Silverado w/4WD and snow tires but not bad at all. I'm going to stay with all season radials for now.

All season tires suck in all seasons! Lol I run the Blizzaks on the Cobalt. Never ever had a problem getting stuck at all. No traction control on the car either. I just put a new set of Blizzak LM 80's on it last week. Should be a fun winter.

Well done. Best color combo period.

You're comparing all season+FWD to all season+awd, different story..

I believe this would be exactly the same for 4WD.
I'm going to stay with the CTS and all season radials for no snow to moderate conditions. I'll take the truck when it gets worse.

The only problem with the car is certain people. So far, I've gotten:
Buying a caddy? You must be getting old.
Why did you buy a jew canoe?
What are you buying next? An airplane or a boat?
What's up Huggy Bear?
You're going to need a pimp hat.

I think you need a 'Pimp Hat'!! That would be totally hilarious to put that on when driving the car:sFun_rofl::giggle:

I think that was only in the "Mary Kay Edition"

Now that is a BOAT!

I think that a boat is what a lot of people picture with a Cadillac.
Even now at work, people somehow think the car is bigger than it really is.
I compared it to my wife's Subaru Legacy.
CTS
----------------
Length = 191.6 in
Width = 72.5 in
Height = 58 in
Legacy
----------------
Length = 187.2 in
Width = 71.7 in
Height = 59.3 in
So, the CTS is 4.4" longer and 0.8" wider than my wife's car.
Her car is 1.3" taller.
Not exactly a huge difference.
