Poo, wish I had tq #'s. We deemed it too much of a pain to bother at the time. Ah well, next time :)

Matt your headers and the way your wire were run i couldnt hook a wire clean enough away from the other wires to get a good signal. do an OTVC set of wires and ill get it for sure next time!

Kinda what I figured. I hate my headers the more I work on this car. Then again, I guess they work lol.
Like I said, more of a pita than it was worth ;). No worries

What's done for mods?
Well, from what I was told when I bought the car it's got a hot cam, roller rockers, ported stock heads and intake, headers, broomstick modded cat, magnaflow cat back, cold air intake, and a mail order tune from PCM4less.
Since I got it I've done a walboro 255, msd opti, Taylor wires, and ngk tr55's. And that's about it, for now. I may change the headers over to something more spark plug friendly cause what's there sucks.
And after seeing what all the othe cars were putting down for numbers she's even telling me to keep the 2 stage nitrous kit I have and put it on. There goes my voice of reason lol. So I'm pretty sure it's geting sprayed soon too ;)

Oh, and a paint job soon too. As soon as I get her subie done I'll be painting it.
Although I have been enjoying the sleeper look lol. It's just not me. I prefer not to have my vehicles look like poo.

Pace setter mid lengths. Major pita to get around. Of course apparently they work good once it's all together lol.

you wont find any headers for an LT that will clear the plugs any better then what you have. ive seen them ALLL except LPP's installed and they run close to the plugs because of the plug position under the exhaust port. mine as well stick with what you have and spend "better" header money into something worth it.

Well, I guess you would know best lol fine, I'll put header money into a couple fogger nozzles, some jets, and a few fittings ;)

you obviously never driven a relay hot TPI or LT1 car they are alot more fun on the street. slower at the track yes. you just about need to stroke a ls1 to get the low end punch you can get out of a well built TPI car from what i have seen.yes some real strong Ls1 cars will brake 400 ftlbs with stock cubes but its nothing to see a tpi motor do it with a GOOD set of heads and holly stealth ram.

kevo wats ur plan? dropping the motor completley? or just unbolting one side and jacking it up? i think that would be the best way to go at it without a lift.

Shorties are no better, trust me...

set the K Member on 4x4's nice and stable. take off the wiring harness(15 minutes) disconnect all hoses and cables(another 15-30 minutes) remove master cylinder and brake lines to the front wheels. losen steering shaft off of rack. remove all 4 bolts on each strut tower. remove Torque Arm from tranny let it rest on the floor. tranny crossmemner and drive shaft. shifter cable/tranny wiring(should have been done with for mentioned wiring harness. remove the 3 bolts per side on the K member. drive shaft and use a Engine Hoist to lift the CAR off the MOTOR. and then you just work on it on a 5 gallon bucket. bolt em all in minust y pipe and lower car back down. THATS the way to do it with out a lift. looks like alot of work. BUT its alot less frustrating and less time consuming then putting them in WITH the motor in the car. and chances are you'll break less shit. like harness connectors and spark plugs etc.

your prob better off dropping the motor, i pretty much dropped the k member and all, and it still was a pita

04-08-2010, 04:18 PM
kevo i think pizza boy is actually right on this one. sounds a lot easier that way then the way we did it on mine... i can help u out some too, i already have taken off all the tranny stuff when we did our tranny swap so i will have some expirence on that small stuff. dude if u want we can do it in my garage and u can keep it in there as long as u need to. i can just park my car outside
theres also a bunch of writeups on how to drop the motor from the bottom we could use. and maybe pizza can come up and help us for the big stuff... hell we could take him out to dinner or something for his troubles
i also could get an engine hoist for a weekend too
i want some expirence on dropping a motor for when the time comes for me to drop mine :)
