the 3.6 ohc motor is the same. timing chain is terrible design. they use the standard link belt style chain from the crank to an idler(were the old mid engine camshaft used to be) and then from that idler a chain roller type to each over head cam drive gear sohc/dohc. Same concept. tsb's for engine rattle. timing tensioner. crank no start. broken upper chain. rough idle cam crank sync codes. lower chain stretch. they just suck.

Ehh.... if it doesn't get recalled for something else, hopefully it happens under warranty.... lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 03:34 PM

yeah you'll get one done under warranty. next one will be on you. i really hate how cheap GM has gotten. im not a new GM guy. id buy a subaru over any GM at this point.

Mike, what year would you say you lose your faith in GM cars?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 04:45 PM

08-09 id say after that they went cheap on everything. and i noticed a lot of issues with stupid shit. like steering wheels falling the fuck off and shit.... i mean come on.

I've had Nissan high on my list, but really like the new look of the colorado.

Don't they make a 5.3L version.

The older Colorado/Canyon had the 5.3 for only a year or so. The new ones have 4 or 6 cylinder only with the diesel coming out soon.

Even with a little less HP I'd go diesel all day.
