on that note i used to do it and have no problem with people who do it when its done right..long street with no cross traffic, not 4k in people dancing ,smoking weed and drinking, people driving right and not fucking off darting across shit or doing donuts an blasting music..thats a straight hey look at me look at me im over here shit.

when its done right like the texas and okie boys do on cash days then its all good..me i stopped doing it once i had a low 10 high 9 cars..so much shit can go wrong so fast once you get around that power level..

Yup, I pretty much agree with all of this. Hell, I used to be the one who flagged all of my friends street races. Guess I was the only one crazy enough to stand between them all when they launched. Oh the stories... Ever stand next to an ls1 car when the nitrous backfires and blows the intake into a million pieces? That's an experience I'll never forget.

Now, that being said, who wants to race lol?

smokinss 11-28-2010 07:04 PM

Yeah well down here in florida the street scene is dying down in the west palm area. I've calmed down now that my ss rolls around on hoosiers and no front sway bar. Plus the track is only 45min away. I get alot more action from light to light down here than I do on a meet night. Too much shit talking ricers that don't wanna run because my ss looks fast

Oh dude, 6 ft in front would be interesting, I was right next to the front wheel when it popped and burst into flames. It practically blew the damn hood off. That was an experience lol.

Another fun one to explain was why we were pushing a gutted and caged mustang on slicks down the road 1/2 a mike from a known streetrace spot followed by a Camaro on slicks, after they had reports of two cars racing about a half hour before that. "No officer, I swear the clutch just let go while we were driving down the street" lol. It's a miracle we got away with as much as we did :)

Suicidal racing 11-28-2010 09:42 PM

haha reminds me of when i had a blaster coil go because it had got to hot in the engine bay and then a poped a head gasket from it..but car died at a red light not even 2 miles from my house..friends tag on it,no insurrance or anything,on slicks with the bottle on..1 seat belt and no pass seat belt..pass seat only had 2 bolts in it an they wheren't even all the way tight..haha

i new the cops had heard me flying around town car was over 120db's at idel..loud phucker and i stopped for a red light and bitch just died..had my buddy get out and push along with some guy who stopped behind me..fucking cop blocked 3 lanes of traffic for me to push it across the road and into the parking lot..luckly he didnt even come into the parking lot..just seen we had got her in there and drove off..i would of been super fucked if he even paid attion at all.

Best part of that night was me driving it like i stole it..i lunched the car an bang gears everytime i shifted my buddy in the pass seat would go forward and then get slamed back..he gos whats with this seat i said its barely bolted in..he gos fuck im putting my seat belt on..went to reach for it and i was laughing.he gos where the belt i said in some trash heap some where..needless to say he was scared..the floating rear end when cruising at 55 on the slicks with only 11#s of air in them freaked him out also..

i also had a couple of them why are you guys out here in the middle of no where with a car on a trailer in a street racing area cop moments

KLAB 11-28-2010 10:21 PM

Street racing is fun for a couple runs but gets annoying when nobody knows how to fuckin race. it gets annoying. Theres a pretty crazy bosted Kseries hatch out around springfield. Killed everyone one night ahaha.

Here's mine, back in the day with my 67 chevelle racing at an area known for racing in bristol ct. I had my buddy flagging ( after already 4 runs previous ) tranny is now too hot not going forward too good here comes the pd, my buddies ditch in the woods I furiously get the turned and get out on some back roads and loose the pd. About 20 min later go back pick up my buddies and head back to the hangout at the time. Man the good old days.

fasta**z28 11-28-2010 10:44 PM

All's i no guys and gals is i was not trying to make a thread for every one to fight and bicker about who's right and who's wrong we all have our own things we prefer to use are cars for me personaly like the street have not been to a track since there so far away if there was one closer than maybe yea.jacksonville i street raced 4 four years straight never had a cop come to were we were or even bother us i just felt more free there and yes i no this isnt florida i live live up north now whole nother car scene. so why dont we all donate 10 dollars to a track to be built post on every forum and gets all member to donate just a thought shit a track in mass/ct would make money and would solve so much problems! 4000 people x 10.00 = 40,000 and so on how hard is it we all love the same thing no matter if its a 80 mile an hour lawnmower to a drag car whats 10 to 20 bucks shit

fasta**z28 11-28-2010 11:19 PM

are there any petitions out there for a strip in mass if so is it working
cash rules everything around us cash=strip petition = laughs lots of laughs

Formula413 11-28-2010 11:38 PM

There's a petition online somewhere to bring back the dragstrip that used to be down in CT, but that's not going to go anywhere. Petitions won't get it done, cash will. And I think there will still be street racing regardless.

I'm an old-timer who's been around the Drag scene since the days of flagmen and flashlights (Remember the race scene from the movie "American Graffiti"..?) The only strip around back then was at the Sanford Airport in Maine.

Over the years, there have been several attempts at strips in Mass. Some even got built such as 'New England Dragway South' in Norwood, MA back in the late 60's. They spent a bundle building it only to have to shut it down after a few seasons because the noise was bothering the Yuppies who built houses next to it...!! A-Holes...!!!

Then, there was talk about building one in Palmer, MA but they ran into the same problems with the Town Fathers.

The Mohegans (the folks who take your money at the Casino) talked about bringing back the strip at the old Connecticut International Raceway in Colchester, CT. For awhile, the Casino sponsored a Funny Car so why not build their own strip with a buffet restaurant and a few slot machines...!!

And then there was talk a few years back about someone putting in a track at the East Hartford Pratt & Whitney plant. I guess that idea was put to rest, too.

What it all boils down to isn't just money. It has to be built where no one else can come in and build houses next to it and then complain about the noise....DUH..!! For the time being, NED has been the only place nearby that's been able to keep going without any hassles from the locals.

"Back in the day..", we had no fancy strips. But we sure had a helluva lot of fun on the streets...!! Ahhhhhhh......Route 1 at the lights in Norwood where Art Johnson's burger joint used to be is hallowed ground. I think part of my transmission is still in the woods along the side of the road....!!!

;-)

*LS1* Queen 11-29-2010 04:13 AM

ive heard all kinds of stories about the one in Norwood from my dad. Wish i was around for that

My friends made a facebook group about this. Lots of people joining. I don't think its going to go anywhere fast though based on the dumb things people do around here lol. Check it out:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=...684076955&ap=1

I'm about to leave the group though because it started as a serious thing and now everyones posting stoopid shit lol.

bottledbird68 11-29-2010 07:17 PM

Yeah there's been lots of talk about opening up a nearby strip but it never goes anywhere cause like bowtie said, all of the non car people move in and bitch.
There was also talk of turning the Worcester airport into a drag strip too but I think that's gone away also.

I guess the closest close thing we get if they do it are the 100ft drags at the roundy round tracks.

Suicidal racing 11-29-2010 08:12 PM

problem is tracks are not cheap..that 40k wouldnt even pay for the insurrance needed for the track..even if you convert a old air port over you still need a solid couple million just to get started..

lv is only a hr drive for me so thats not really bad at all..bradenton motorsports park was about the same for me..but sunshine drag strip was only 10 mins from me..lol

biggest problem is it takes up alot of land and then people start pushing in on it and then next thing you know you cant run cars after 10 at night and all car must have mufflers and such because start building around it..sunshine was in a industal area and still after 12 at night they would get shit for cars running..

fasta**z28 11-29-2010 08:45 PM

Was not saying 40k would build a track more like 2 mil and why not every one donate 10 dollars to a drag strip build it could happen what if the land say 20 acres + say in south hadley middle of nowhere no one in sight for miles was already there just need funds to create it on the land already owned say donations wouldnt work? just a thought what do you all think?

CamaroRacing12 11-30-2010 12:11 AM

keep dreamin

bowtie17 11-30-2010 01:17 AM

Let me dust off my calculator.....OK, 2-million bucks divided by 10-bucks. Well, that's just a mere 200,000 donations. If you can get the other 199,999 to chip in, I'll certainly throw my ten-er into the pot. In fact, I'm feeling generous at this time of year, so I may throw in a 20....!!!!

Did you seriously just need to use a calculator for that? :brainfart:

fasta**z28 11-30-2010 02:25 AM

k will do im a do alot of research and figure it all out i have the land have some funds but not enough and as others posted dont no regulations and such need to find out , and for that 199,000 donations i think there are 199,000 civics driving around springfield alone never mind other enthusiast

Seems like up here in New England, it just doesn't work out. The street racing interested audience around here I think is mostly dumb kids, which makes police crack down on it more. I can see how out in the central states it might be a little better.

One guy in my autocross club is in jail for just normal daily driving. He struck and killed a woman. Police decided to say he was street racing which I doubt he was knowing what I know of him. I'd hate to see what they'd do with him had he actually been street racing. This sealed the deal for me as far as ever joining any convoy drive meets ever again.

Come down to Seekonk Speedway in the spectator drags... you can legally race against other cars there side by side around the oval track :)

Formula413 11-30-2010 11:39 PM

How much does that cost, and what do you need for safety equipment?

fasta**z28 12-01-2010 12:13 AM

yes im interested in info to also any auto cross tracks around ma

Not really any autocross "tracks" per se but there are a bunch of local clubs that use nice big parking lots :)

A lot at ft devens in Ayer, and there's the cart organization down in ct which would be pretty close to you. Google them, iirc they have a website. I just don't remember the link offhand.

I've seen the Spectator Drags at Seekonk many times. Usually, the inside guy wins and the outside guy wipes out.

If you go to race, bring a helmet and a big wad of cash. No insurance company is gonna pay for the damage. Set your car up for hard left hand turns. You're on a banked track so put a big old fatty tire on the right front and a shorty on the left front. And, yes, that wall is thick solid concrete..!!

It looks like this....

I can't view those video clips from my work internet, but I wouldn't be suprised if my car is in those. I've actually raced in the drags since 2003. I was just trying to lure some more drivers out. It's fun :)

Autocross in MA is mostly at Fort Devens. It's safer than the spec drags :) Look up Boston BMWCCA (that's what I race in), NER.org, SVT club, Renegade Miata, and a few others.

CamaroRacing12 12-02-2010 03:58 AM

those spectator drags look fun but riskyy

BryanH 12-02-2010 03:08 PM

I just checked those clips. That Tiburon was a new guy who I hadn't seen at the track before. They probably hit their brakes hard turning into turn 3 which is what I tell new guys never to do. The 2nd one was Chris and Al pushing as hard as they could to win. Those are two of the big dogs and have a rivalry going. Contact is always possible but not common though. That's just what gets put on youtube because it's more exciting to the audience who just wants to see crashes.

Suicidal racing 12-04-2010 12:51 AM

we used to have roundy round drags on my old local track...its cool..i seen alot of cars get smashed..it better be a beater or car just for that..because i seen more then one get totaled out..

a s10 used to dom our..it was set up perfect..bed was just sheet metal outer skin and such..had a strong motor and like a 4.88 gear..outside control arm was longer then the inside an such an ran on racing slicks..fucker was damn fast
