Try cutting the wheel and see if it will lock one way or the other, mine seems to like to grab turning left and not right, also, I know with mine, it has the tendency to just blister one tire if you just smash the throttle, if I ease into it and try to hook it will lock up both tires.

Food for thought, I picked up a low mileage 3.42 rear out of an ls1 car to swap in, you can find them for pretty cheap if you keep looking, could be a crap shoot for the posi but, but for me the the cost of gears and a new posi alone made buying a whole slightly used one much cheaper and given this one has lasted 175k, im not overly worried about killing another lol. Have to swap axles and brake backing plates but nothing crazy hard.

Ask pizza I broke a stock ten bolt on a iron headed lt1 impala SS motor at track with a eaton posi hance (3,0000 dump it )with4:10

So if daily driver swap used rear in ad hole unit save for upgrade
I now have moser 9" with a wave lock diff with 36 spline axels a life yes life time warranty, most only have a year
Only thing is wave lock cost I paid two years a go 800 I think but now ther like 1200$

Well I know squat about axles so what should I replace?

My84Z 10-17-2012 03:14 AM

Posi should be rebuilt or replaced. Cheaper to get another rear out of another f body

Just either buy a good one or go on Craigslist. I've seen 10 bolts for 200 bucks everywhere
