yeah i was thinking the same thing. but pull the badges off of a 202k mile car and youll SEE the spot where they were for sure. we'll see. i have a new NBM firebird badge. so if i take it off and it looks like poo i can just put the new one back on the car.

i say keep them just so you dont have the outline only a idiot is going to think that thing is a v6 while running though

if you take em off and there is an outline just wetsand and buff the spots and it should look fine

take the one's you have off (with care) and buff the crap out of the spot. it won't be that noticeable. yeah the body has some miles on it, but it's only 12yrs old...
paint under the sticky tape should be just fine. if it was lighter color and 15+yrs then I'd say wet sand and polish the shit out of it or just leave em' on.

If you like them then go for it. I've been contemplating firehawk decals for my third gen :) Its fun to confuse people sometimes.
