> Is the plot long enough to hold the strip plus a safety shutdown area? > Is the infrastructure in place? (water, electricity, sewerage etc.). > How about access to handle the traffic? Will roads need to be built to get to it? > Is it already zoned for Commercial use? > How close is the nearest residential area? > Who owns the surrounding land and are there any plans for housing on it? I think you get the idea. A lot of planning has to do into any project of this size before you even put a shovel into the ground. If you're still interested in pursuing it, I wish you well. <|> |
I would agree with the sentiments above...
CT had a drag strip for Years, and it's no longer... Why you ask?? Well because sound travels.... That's right not for lack of support/paying customers, or even willingness to give in to some regulations, but because folks in the surrounding area stop liking all the noise and the chaos that comes along with a track. Ever been to Lime Rock on a race weekend, you can hear the cars miles away from the parking areas. They are in a constant battle just to stay in place, only open a few days a week, limiting the time on the track. Only difference is the track property is MUCH larger than a Drag Strip, and that entire part of the state is pretty much supported by the Track... So they won't get pushed out as easily. So the first order of business would be some hard research on noise regulations, and how well you can tame the noise. Then off to put together a solid business plan of how much it would cost to build, along with how often it would be open, what types of events, and how much revenue it can really support. After all of that... Then come talk to us about venture capital... NOT $20... Best of luck, I would love a track, but that's what it would take... |
Thanks for the advice Grovlet and Bowtie17

GOOD LUCK getting a track built in Mass.

Mass sucks for anything motorsports related cause the average jackass is NOT car friendly and the vast majority of people that live here are massholes. ;) Like was said, you've got a shit ton more to figure out before you even need to think about money. There was also plans for a roadcourse I think in palmer (I could be off on my city but it was somewhere out here in western mass). They supposedly had it all figured out, plans drawn up (seen the layouts of the complex), funded and ready to go. Well, that was about three years ago and as far as I know a shovel hasn't touched the ground yet. |
so its gonna be hard huh? what about a huge protest in spring already have polls on other forums and so far lots of people are down for a huge protest in spring to fight against the mass wholes to change the opinions of drag racing Dominic Sarno is the man to see.i dont get y this state makes so much money just off cigs take that tax on cigs and spend on a strip shit alchol tax too
|
gotta be honest 1 no I wouldn't because I have no idea who or wether the person accepting donations has the ability to build the strip or knowing when they build it they won't get greedy like other tracks. Also untill it was passed for the build from the town and state I would also never give my money away to someone. Maybe I am alittle sinical but owell.

Hell, google up how long they've been trying to get a casino in mass. That would bring a LOT more revenue than a track, a LOT more people go to/want to go to a casino, and there still isn't one of those either. That should give you a small idea of what you're up against. I mean trust me, I wish you the best of luck, but I mean it when I say good luck ;) |
Isnt there one of those petitions going around online for the past like 6 years to build a track? Never gonna happen in MA.

Let's face it. Most of the public around here thinks drag racing is boring and just an annoying noisy nuisance. The drivers, crew members, and most of the spectators are gear heads like us who appreciate what goes into building a high powered machine. Seekonk Speedway is the only circle track left in Massachusetts. At one time, there was Westboro Speedway, Norwood Arena, Lakeville Speedway among others. They all closed because the land was worth more than what they were taking in at the gate. It's going to be very difficult to win over the minds and hearts of the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. So while having our own local strip is a wonderful dream, I'm afraid that's all it will ever be.....a dream. <|> |
Seekonk speedway has been trying for years and last i heard was they got approved for an 1/8th after many years and they are already a track!

never gonna happen...mass sucks

Trying to get a track put up in CT would be like asking to build a Dyno shop in the middle of one of their fuking golf courses. Ant gonna happen. You could have everything all drawn up and funded and everything, but when it comes to the city to pass work permits, zoning and everything else, they'll just sit on it and KEEP sitting on it till you either give up, die of old age or forget about it. Not to mention the taxes on the property, buildings and anything else they want to rape ya for. If you don't get the volume of customers you will have a real hard time paying just the fukin TAXES. I don't even want know what they'll be asking for taxes just for business zoning. My ma used to work for City Hall here.. I've heard it all.. You'd have better luck putting up a gold course........ Or Audi/BMW/Jaguar dealership. But the MAIN argument FOR the strip would be "If you want to cut down on illegal street racing, BUILD THE TRACK and give them somewhere to go!" |
