They're like frickin murals :haha:

That will be a pretty sweet car once you get all the little stuff straightened out. I would suggest you get rid of that TCI converter and get a quality unit from Yank or Vig, especially since the trans is already coming out.

My84Z 12-22-2010 10:29 PM

Josh i dunno where they are but i have extra air box clips around somewhere

Slowhawk 12-26-2010 03:41 AM

In the plans I would add -sell Performajunk tranny and converter. Add FLT or RPM tranny and Yank converter.

Bowtie Babe 12-28-2010 12:34 AM

Don: I think he needs that converter! :)

Just curious but whats so bad about TCI converters? I've used a few of them and have one in my car and no complaints. All have been good quality units.

The converter works but you can only tell the quality when you switch to a good converter. I had a customer gain .4 at the track switching from a TCI 3500stall to a yank 3600 stall. The yank converter drove a hell of alot better on the street too.

Motaboata 01-16-2011 04:18 PM

Well pulled the trans yesterday... Wow did she smell burnt...ATF was a lil burnt... Came out rather easy...Didnt have to drop the exhaust woooo hoo....Trans is getting sent out tuesday... Did notice something was rubbing against the driveshaft about 4" away from the end of the shaft... Going to buy new u joints and rear output shaft seal and await the transmission coming back... woo hooo

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-17-2011 08:05 PM

PLEASE tell me your sending out the converter too?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Formula413 01-17-2011 08:07 PM

LOL I was about to ask that...

And seriously, just throw away the cooler and get a new one, not worth the risk of hoping a flush gets all the crap out of it.

Motaboata 01-17-2011 08:14 PM

convertor is not underwarranty... so its not getting sent out... but my buddy who pulled trans with me works @ AAMCO... so i am going to have him take it to work and have rebuilder go through it

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-17-2011 10:11 PM

alright and while your at it after you fix it SELL IT and buy a yank. just sayin

im broke lol its going in for now... all my $ has to goto get my pool fixed...gonna cost me like 7 grand to get it fixed

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-18-2011 03:58 AM

then have it rebuilt and tuned NOT to use the lock up. its a 4 cyl. converter much like the one in that tear down comparo. id get it rebuilt buy a shop that KNOWS what there doing. not just pull it open and have a peak inside. theres alot of things that can make that converter not suck. TCI does none of them. Why they suck for 4L60E's. But small stuff like furnace brazed stator and such can make a converter Much more consistent.

i dunno. Plus 2 blown trannys and that converter was in both....... tells me it aint helping the way it sits.

Formula413 01-18-2011 04:09 AM

If cash is an issue just put a stocker in. Ask Don, he probably has a pile of them. Then you can drive the car and save for a quality unit. I just can't see how it's worth the risk. You know what they say, pay a little now or a lot later.

Slowhawk 01-18-2011 04:11 AM

If you keep smoking tranny's you throw out the converter and trans cooler.Allitle bit of tranny shit can take out the whole new setup.

Save $$ now, cost alot later. If it's going back to performacrap then just run the stuff the way it is because it will shit itself again.

if you see what that cars been through then youll know why lol

Motaboata 01-31-2011 01:21 AM

Well I found out why trans went bad again... Called company.. They said it was a convertor issue, lol. Gears everything was fine inside EXCEPT metal everywhere... They said in filters etc... so they have to rebuild anyway.... Yippy

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-31-2011 03:26 AM

TOLD YOU!!!!!!!

Motaboata 01-31-2011 08:56 PM

O YEY! THE FUCKIN TRANSMISSION WARRANTY WONT COVER THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTOR THAT FAILED! YEY ANOTHER 500 OUT OF POCKET

My84Z 01-31-2011 08:59 PM

I'd ask for proof or have someone look at the converter and confirm it before i paid them

Motaboata 01-31-2011 09:04 PM

they sent pix of metal everywhere in the trans and also showing there is no like damage on transmission... the pump "cone" filter is full of metal shavings

My84Z 01-31-2011 09:21 PM

I'd still see if someone can confirm

Slowhawk 02-01-2011 03:57 AM

Is this performacrap?

If so,don't pay them shit. Take the tranny back and have a real shop build it.

If it isn't performacrap- I take it back.

SLP IROC-Z 02-01-2011 08:21 PM

its a performacrap trans

Then definitely don't let them touch it. I've tuned probly 10 of them and NONE of them worked right. I'm surprized they are still in bussiness.

Motaboata 02-06-2011 09:29 PM

Just ordered my Yank SS3200 Stall...

Formula413 02-06-2011 09:31 PM
