this is BULLSHIT

and before anyone says "well theyre still going to offer the v8" thats fine...but i refuse to have a car in our product family that uses the same motor set up as a ford f series pick up (wtf do you need a 10k revving pick up for?!)

*LS1* Queen 06-03-2011 11:14 PM

I think it's a good idea, ONLY if there is still a large displacement V8 available. With a turbo on there the thing is going to fly with a little tweeking

irockidz28 06-04-2011 02:52 AM

feckin lame

My84Z 06-04-2011 03:44 AM

400+ hp turbo v8 yeah i see a problem with that also ferrari's and lambo's are gay /:)

frankzlt1 06-04-2011 09:02 AM

:qft:

If there is interest in a drivetrain like that then make it and let people buy it. If no one wants it it will die off and they will stick with the tried and true small block configuration.

Lick my balls

bottledbird68 06-04-2011 07:27 PM

Have you ever actually driven a high revving small block v8?
I think it's a cool idea and I'd love to take one for a rip. Hate on :)

It also said that they were going to offer a big block type v8 as well if you read the whole article ;)
But, I like the thought of a mid engine 10k rpm turbocharged v8.

if you read my whole post youd see that i made reference to them continuing to make the standard v8 as well.

I also dont hate, a high revving v8 is a cool idea, in the cars they belong in.

the best part about the vette was its ability to dominate its competition using your everyday v8, it out performs in power and handling cars that are in its class and even outside of it. The car is a legend for a reason. "if it aint broke dont fix it"

With that being said id like to see GM make a super car. Maybe make it a division of caddy or something where that high end sort of exotic style can be placed better...but put it in a new car..

This 100x, don't ruin the image of the vette. If you wanna screw around with a mid mount engine, then make a new damn car and design it from the ground up. I don't know why Gm wants to make an NSX tho..

IMO a true supercar with a bowtie on it would never sell, people who buy those cars want the exclusivity.

This is also true too.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 06-05-2011 12:39 PM

your all a bunch of narrow minded Ninnys. the Corvette is was and always will be out of our price range. and the higher ups that buy these things. If they buy he high revving turboed V-8 whats the matter? the camaro wich Really is the only other real RWD platform so far will keep the Big Motor.... for now. sorry but the technology is going to small over head cammed V8's. and to be honest Let GM make one. they have kept and made the PR V-8 a Winner for YEARS! wait till they break Heavily into the OVC Market with a Monster that will not only out perform but out last all others in its class. This up coming next few years are going to be fun to watch!!

that theory would work but what they are planning on doing is marketing the new v8 to a YOUNGER crowed. that means everyone will have one...its like their taking an integra GSR motor and strapping it into a corvette...

Yea you are about right, chevy v8 has always dominated the market and with the change they will most likely dominate it even more.

grundens 06-05-2011 07:45 PM

eh, I've always been a fan of having different engine choices, I would of loved to of been alive during the COPO years. I can't say I'm a fan of a V8 that small though, IMO it should be a TT 302ci:D

frankzlt1 06-06-2011 03:24 PM

I wonder if this engine is the platform for chevy to get back into indy cars.
