we've been SLAMMED at work, which is fantastic and means i get to work on what i love, Ford powerstrokes like this 03. this truck is getting arp head stud install and egr delete kit. i spent friday afternoon getting it ready for the cab to come off, sat morning i had it up in the air. tomorrow ill get the heads off it and go from there. this is the 2nd 6.0L head gasket job this month, and there is 1 possibly 2 more coming! just wanted to share with you guys what i do for work, and happy to say i do something i love for a job, its definitly a good thing when you look forward to going to work in the morning. my dad opened this shop less then a year ago and finally we are reaping the rewards as the work has been pouring in. so heres some pics of what goes on at our garage...

the head gaskets can be done with the cab on but its a nightmare, taking the cab off is pretty simple and makes working on the engine so easy.

4 fuckin bolts per cylinder on a god damn diesel. WTH Inter-Trashional!!!

KLAB 11-24-2009 02:52 AM

Yeah at my old work they used to lift the whole fuckn body of the truck off the frame to do headgaskets on those. I been under there those motors are strange O.o

SLP IROC-Z 11-24-2009 02:26 PM

yup that is standard procedure to do head gaskets on these trucks, i wouldnt do it any other way. what dealer did you work at kevin/

KLAB 11-24-2009 03:42 PM

I worked at Regan Ford in Haverhill from 06 till this summer. I did detailing there. I basically helped out any department picking up cars for sales, grabbing parts, and helped out tech's in the body shop and service dept. when I had no details to do. I miss that job and learned a lot about body work there. Things just got really dead over there and they cut me back to 1 day a week so I had to leave and got a job at the carwash. Now work has picked up significantly since Walls is gone. Oh well...

SLP IROC-Z 11-24-2009 03:51 PM

haha you must have saw my truck when it was in there in 08 for a trans then. we get all of our parts from regan, they treat us well and their parts guys are pretty good. my dad and i both used to work for walls, i worked in salisbury as a salesman, my dad worked at both locations doing diesel work.

KLAB 11-24-2009 11:50 PM

If its a 6.0 doesnt that make it a ford motor not a International?

SLP IROC-Z 11-25-2009 12:34 AM

the 6.0L powerstroke is made by international, international calls it the vt365. the 6.4L powerstroke also uses 4 bolts per cylinder and holds up very well, that engine is based off the 6.0L design. do 4 bolts per cylinder provide enough clamping force? id say so, you just need to use the right hardware.

84ta406 11-25-2009 01:24 AM

Hmmm now to remember who told me the 7.3 was the last inter. motor made for ford...

SLP IROC-Z 11-25-2009 01:27 AM

the last international to go in a ford is the 6.4L due to ford and int parting ways, ford designed and built their own diesel for the next model year.

c4boom 11-25-2009 01:52 AM

we shale see I have not seen a manufacture build a good diesel yet

84ta406 11-25-2009 02:45 AM

Ahh then thats what it was he told me. Hence the new scorpion diesel?

SLP IROC-Z 11-25-2009 03:01 AM

yes scorpion was the code name for it, the official name is the 6.7L powerstroke

Spooky 11-26-2009 06:47 AM

I own a 2002 F350 4x4 7.3L and love this truck!
