I think the Big E thing is just folks selling parts. It might really stink. Jeff68 said he went before and there is a lot of repop stuff and little to no NOS stuff. I might go any way to check it out. |
The show was pretty good. There were loads of vendors there. I picked up a few inexpensive tools, some Camaro books, a few more pictures from Thom Sansoucie, and a 1958 Impala die-cast car for the kid that he picked out. I think he had a pretty good time.

MMMMmmm BOOOBS!
and yeah that was the only thing really worth looking at there! World Of Wheels Will Not be on my to do list anymore! Was this worth going to? |

cost to get in w/ no cost for the kid = $10 parking = $5 the little smirk on Alex's face as he hangs with the hooters girls = priceless |
^hahahaha
|
I bet Alex was sportin a woodie!
that show sucked, it wasnt a swap meet at all. well a couple guys selling used stuff but it was mostly all new stuff vwendors were selling. |
sucks to have a classic these days :P
swap meet for me = craigslist :klab: |
The swap meet strikes me as something from a bygone era, those of us with newer cars grew up with ebay and craigslist

I still had a good time checking out car parts, picking out a couple Camaro books, letting Alex pick out his favorite die-cast model, talking with Thom SanSoucie again and meeting Don Sawyer. Don Sawyer draws a lot of diners. He was real nice and a talkative guy. I bought one of the Olympia diner: http://www.porterhousecrafts.com/med...rge/DDS-OD.jpg From Thom, I bought some of his black and white prints like this one: http://www.hossrods.com/media/catalo...w/rw-ss211.jpg |
Cool stuff. Of course because of how we're used to shopping for car parts us younger guys don't have the experience of going to stuff like this.
|
guy does Awesome Work!!!!!

Don Sawyer has a big list of diners in the New England area that he draws. If there is any on his list that are on the Quabbin Cruise route, maybe we could get some pictures of older and newer F-bodies at the diner? http://www.dinerdon.com/listofdiners/index.html |
Yeah but one thing well never have or at least me, those days like in the drawings. old school diners with a parking lot full of 60s and 70s muscl cars, drive ins, performance shops. Pics my step dad shows me of the performance shops and stuff in my area is badass its now Honda shops in lawrence : l
|
So you're thinking there's probably no diners along the Quabbin cruise route?
I know the Olympia diner in Newington is still there. http://historicbuildingsct.com/wp-co...mpia-diner.jpg |
There is a diner near where we had the beginning of the Quabbin Cruise in Palmer Mass.
The Day & Night diner: http://209.191.3.28/maDiner/dayAndNightExtM.jpg listing of central MA diners: http://209.191.3.28/maDiner/centralMA.html |
Might not be practical to meet there though since the parking lot looks puny on Google maps.

MMM Olypia Diner!!! I haven't been there in years:oldgregg:
A Meet @ the Olympia Diner in the summer would rock....:tard: It's on the 'Pike' so it could be a fun Saturday Cruise Night as well!!!:sCh_eleguitarist: |

Yeah it's hard not to get in trouble there:lol2-1: Although I've heard it's a little more lax these days:smilie_mech: |
The Olympia diner in the summer sounds like a great idea for a meet.
But....the majority of the folks in the NEFBA are from the eastern MA area. It would be real nice to get a lot of people going to the Quabbin Cruise. It is central to a good part of the members when I look at the "Googlemap ME" map. Recreating something like what Kevin's dad told him about....but with a whole bunch of different generation F-bodies and getting some cool pictures at a traditional diner would be as he would say "epic". and we could still do an Olympia diner meet. |
well thats cool^ I wanna go now.
|
yeah i think we need to add this to the route if possible. to the pike something. a Sick pic in front of a Dinner with us all and the banner would SO totaly Rock!!!! havent had a new pic for the banner on the site in a while!!
|
yeah its kuz i wasnt around this summer to gather my fbody crew.
|
I'm down!! Sat's as long as it's not anywhere near Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day.
