WTB Transfer case, NVG246

Looking for a low mileage T-case for my '99 GMC sierra 1500, its the New venture 246 model. If anybody has one or can possibly get one, or finds one, LMK. Tried getting one through a local shop, but they've been jerking me around since fall. Thanks!

Good site Ron! I wish there were some low mileage T-cases on there tho haha theyre all 100,000+ miles

Its either that or have it rebuilt. Hooefully the chain hasn't worn threw the case? If not its really a job you can do. Rockauto sells the rebuild kits. And any tranny shop can get you the hard parts. If your looking for low miles I say make yours zero miles.

Your welcome!

I also found a couple of brand new cases for about $1700 each but figured you would have had a heart attack!

Nah, the chain hasnt work through yet, How complicated are these things? I pulled apart a tranny in shop in high school. And by some miracle I actually put it back together haha.

there isnt a whole lot to a tcase its got an input shaft chain a few bearings and an output shaft a few sensors thats about it.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-11-2012 11:28 AM

yeah there REALLY simple. and as long as you make sure the bearing preloads are held then it will be fine. im willing to bet its just the chain making noise.

Haha, cant say for sure on that one, it seemed to turn fine. It never went back into a car tho. But Ill have to take a look at the rebuild kits, cuz its only a matter of time before I do wear a hole through the case. The 4wd itself works fine, just makes god awful noises when its in 4wd haha

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-11-2012 04:35 PM

yeah its either the coupler or chain. check out the kits some come with a new viscous coupler some dont. alot of local tranny guys will let you buy parts/kits from them.

KB93z28 03-13-2012 02:13 AM

Yeah, I went to a local tranny shop, and I told the guy my problem, and he just shrugged at me and nodded his head as if he didnt want the work or sell me parts? idk friggin weird if you wanna ask me haha

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-13-2012 12:21 PM

yeah thats douchy! the guy near me is cool as shit. always busy so you gotta get to the point fast. But hes willing to help you out.
