RIMZ or WHEELS?
 

What do you guys call the cylinders that bolt your car's 4 corners wrapped in tires? Do you call them rims or wheels? Or something else, you strange person you. I think they should be wheels, because thats what they are, and always have been called that. When I think of rims I think of gangsta rappers that don't know what they are talking about "y0 look at my rimz on my whip!"

I call them rims when they arent wrapped in rubber and wheels when they are. Or when defining between aftermarket and OEM. Aftermarket rims and factory wheels.

yeah i agree with navy. a wheels is a complete rim tire package. were as a rim is Just the rim itself. but i would even call a factory rim as itself a rim. and as a complete rim/tire again a wheel.

90% of the time i call them rims but yes I do understand it isn't the coreect terminology but everyone says it and noone cares about your stand on this lol

The correct term is wheels, a rim is a part of a wheel.

I say wheel, rims are for drug dealers and rappers

IMO the rim is the hoop and a wheel is the hoop and center

seperate them then! get a RIMMM seperate!! And if you cant well saying you have a set of ZR1 wheels vs. ZR1 rims Well would be the same thing cuz well YOU CANT BUY A ZR1 HOOP/RIM Can Yah?!?!?1 ok moving on.

i call them wheels 95% of the time. ill only call them rims if im tellin someone how the rim is cracked/bent or if they are bigger then 25", chrome, and cost more then 10k, and spin. haha

If on a car I call call them what I am reffering to. I would say hey look at my rim its got scratches all over it. Or look at my tire. Its almost bald. I wouldnt say look at my wheels they have a problem.

A rim and Tire make up a wheel. Sure you can say wheel sure but most people think that means both the tire and rim.

To be specific and to not get people mislead. Rim and or Tire are what should be said.

"Im selling my 94 Z28 wheels"
"Im selling my 94 Z28 Rims"
"Im selling my 94 Z28 Tires"

Out of the three what one sounds like I am selling a complete package. Then 2nd and last.


If you walk into a tire/rim store and say I need wheels for my 94Z28. They will probably start looking for tire and rim packages for you. Not just rims.:party2:
