Sanding and buffing my 06 GTO
Hey guys. I havent really posted on here much since buying the new whip. Mainly just because I have been super busy and trying to get ready for the 2nd boy thats due soon. I have been wanting to sand and buff the orange peel out of the factory clear on this car since I bought it. Some of you that know me know how OCD I can be when it comes to this. All my past rides have been cut/buffed so that the paint has a mirror finish.
Got the car sanded out with Meguiars 2500 grit the other day paying close attention not to get near the edges as the clear can be thin here. Especially on factory cleared cars. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps01f1c0c0.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psafa2af3b.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps26cdfdfc.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps58d2e4b1.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psce6f16fc.jpg Started compounding it out with my rotary buffer and Menzerna FG400 compound. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps595d68b1.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps08f43ba7.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscf799e99.jpg I will update as the progress continues. really great work you do.

Got all the heavy compounding done. This is just using my makita rotary with a yellow cutting pad and menzerna fg400 compound. Then washing all of the sludge off.

was that car always a Florida car. the paint looks pretty good, no fading or clear coat not peeling. car really looks great.
|
Yup originally from Florida. Well kept. When I first got it, it had hard water stains all over it but no major scratches.
|
Looks like crap. As usual with the work you do. Don't give up your day job loser! lol
|
+1 wish you lived closer, mine needs a polish
|
Thanks guys
Ron- get bent you old ass!!! |
Stayed up late and got it all done. Ended up going to straight to a white lc polishing pad with turbowax swirl remover/polish. Due to the lighting in my garage I was checking my work with a halogen light as I progressed. Still waiting for full on sun to really get some nice pics. I topped it with Victoria's concours red wax. Enjoy and sorry for all of the crappy cell phone pics. LOL
