Triple Black SS Vert Shining again!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a Camaro convertible that I had the pleasure of cleaning up. The customer had contacted me about restoring the gloss and removing the swirls from his black beauty. After speaking with him some more he wanted the engine bay done too. Then the day he dropped it off he decided to have me do a full interior detail as well! LOL. So needless to say after attending the AG cars and coffee on Saturday I had my work cut out for me this weekend. We weren't going for 100% perfection as this is his daily driver and it just doesn't make sense. He even admitted that he car barely wash his own car due to restrictions where he lives.

Here are some before pictures of the outside of the car.

This article says that Quick Detailer wipe downs can cause swirl marks:

This is one of the most poorly advertised processes and products within the detail industry. There are numerous quick detailers sold by a few different manufacturers that encourage car owners to simply spray on and wipe off for a great shine and some protection. What they don’t tell you is that along with the shine and protection come some swirl marks and scratches. Similarly to, but much worse than dusting, doing a quick detailer wipe down is a process where dirt and dust is basically pushed along and into the paint with a towel.

Jeez. I wipe my cars down all the time with Quick Detailer and never thought I was causing damage.

Absolutely it can cause damage! Anytime you touch the paint if you don't know what you are doing can cause damage. I have had instances where I was done polishing a car and getting ready to wipe the wax off only to have a microscopic debris in my towel and it created havoc on a fender. Had to repolish it. Clear in most forms is really soft and can mar very easily. My black Camaro was notorious for this. Hell if I farted next to it, it would scratch! LOL. The key is to keep the area nice and lubricated to create a barrier between the dust/dirt and the towel. I use a quick detailer every once in a while but mainly to remove water spots after washing. Also using those cheep 10pk microfibers from walmart are no good for finish detailing work on nice paint. I use those towels for wheels and door jambs. My nice towels are from Cobra and are usually around 8-10$ for one.

If water is a big concern then look into Optimum No Rinse. Great product and can be diluted into a detail spray for in between dusting.

Finally if you really want to know what your paint looks like. Take a regular halogen painters/work light found at home depot and shine it on a panel while in the garage. If you see something like this. Then you have work to do.
