Fall Quabbin Cruise - Saturday, October 18th

For the first time we're going to be having a Quabbin cruise in the Fall this year. The date is Saturday, October 18th. We will be meeting at the Big Y supermarket in Palmer, right off exit 8 on the Mass Pike (D on the map), and departing at noon. Our cruise will follow the route shown on the map below. We will stop at Herrick's Tavern in Orange (B on the map) for lunch, and then continue down the Daniel Shays Highway to Belchertown, and east on Route 9 to the lookout tower with some great panoramic views of the reservoir (C on the map). Many of you are already veterans of the cruise, if anyone plans on coming for the first time feel free to post up any questions. Hope to see many of you there!

LSX-Nation 10-08-2014 10:53 PM

nothing going on that date for me so far either

ILuvPizzaTimes10 10-08-2014 11:09 PM

NICE!!!!! looks like it might be a decent turn out! leaves are already changing here for me so. hope they are not all fallen off by the time we get out there?

Formula413 10-08-2014 11:56 PM

The foliage should be pretty good around then. It's still just getting going.

jimmy21480 10-09-2014 12:56 AM

About 90% sure I'll make it.

DemonWithin99 10-09-2014 01:42 AM

damn.... I wish I checked in more frequently, I got a family thing that day. be ready for the spring run though. should have a few extra drivers by then.

but if plans get canceled I'm in

Mystery Bird 10-09-2014 12:12 PM

I hope it's warm enough to pull the T-tops. Looks like I'm flying solo though, my wife isn't keen on the long drive. Between getting there, the cruise, and the ride home looks like about six hours and 200 miles of driving.

About the same for me, 250ish miles and 5 hours of driving. On my drag radials no less, I'm impressed with the tread life lol

Might have my oldest, trying to figure out if she wants to come. Not exactly a 5 year olds ideal day lol

black heartbeat 10-09-2014 09:59 PM

I'll try to make it funds permitting

DavidS 10-09-2014 11:44 PM

In.

DemonWithin99 10-10-2014 05:14 PM

pffffttt... think last time we ran the numbers I was somewhere around 250+miles for us
down here.

frankzlt1 10-11-2014 12:55 AM

Your about right on demon. And there's a show at panera bread at the pike that day, it's the last one of the season.

DavidS 10-11-2014 12:56 AM

We should have a roll call for this cruise!

frankzlt1 10-11-2014 12:59 AM

This!

ls6monte 10-11-2014 06:02 PM

Not going to make this one. That isn't a very good day in life. Wish that day never existed anymore.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 10-11-2014 11:11 PM

so why not do something to get your mind off of things?

Formula413 10-11-2014 11:17 PM

^ What he said! It would be great to have you Ron!

frankzlt1 10-11-2014 11:29 PM

Come along ron I promise my lt1 won't beat your ls6 to much lol.

DemonWithin99 10-12-2014 04:29 AM

might make the panera show for a few, gonna be in that area for the thing I gotta do

Formula413 10-12-2014 06:27 AM

If you guys are gonna hit that show I might take a ride down to the pike too. The last time I was down there it was heartbreaking to look at an empty BK lot on a Saturday evening. :(

frankzlt1 10-12-2014 11:55 AM

That show is from 3-7. It's there Halloween show.

KB93z28 10-12-2014 07:45 PM

I'm most likely in! And come on Ron! It wouldn't be the same without the Monte!

Thanks everybody for coming today on our first Fall Quabbin run! We might just have to start running it twice a year every year.

frankzlt1 10-18-2014 11:31 PM

Even though the weather wasn't the greatest still had a good time with everyone. Thanks to everyone who came and thanks again Dave s for the lunch.

Spooky 10-18-2014 11:56 PM

I'm bummed I missed you guys. The Crossram was loading up the plugs just putting through Quabbin. Glad you guys had a good time

Kalstar 10-19-2014 02:01 AM

Awesome time. Thank you for allowing me to became a member of your group. I have gone to two other NEFBA get togethers and I felt I did not belong. Today was totally different, what a great bunch of car nuts. Oh and I loved seeing the old school LT1's. Maybe it's my age but a well sorted LT1 lights my fire.

Thanx Taylor for allowing me to drive your beautiful SS.

Dave, Thanx for the grub.

No problem Kalstar! I had a great time too and the scenery was real nice!

I think that car cruises are best for car guys since you don't stay in one place for too long. Sometimes, even when I'm at a car show for a long time I start to feel trapped and claustrophobic. I think it's better to be on the move, hang out and talk for a while and then get moving again.

I wish I got to see your car and it's a shame you ran into problems bringing it.

jimmy21480 10-19-2014 10:40 AM

Yesterday was my first time out with you guys. I had a blast! The scenery was great. Good bunch of guys. It was nice to see some LT1 presence for once. My area is full of LT1 haters.... Can't wait til next time!

Dave, thanks for the schwag and lunch. Much apreesh!

Kalstar 10-19-2014 01:51 PM

Alex. I took your advise. Charcoal is what I ordered today. Thx.

KB93z28 10-19-2014 04:16 PM

Had a great time even though I had to cut it short! Thanks to Dave for the sweet mug and lunch! Its funny because later that night I took my car out to a local bar and when I went to leave, the starter solenoid had quit and I had to have it towed home. Just glad that didn't happen when I was on the cruise an hour and a half away from home! Lol

I'm a former lt1 owner so I know the love/hate relationship with them haha. But they seriously are great motors and were ahead of their time. Hell, beats the shit out of the rival 5.0 lol
