LT4 Knock module --------->

Anyone here ever install a LT4 knock module onto their LT1 PCM ??? Just checking to see what opinions you guys might have on the subject. I picked one up for my Z because I've read they are a good idea on an LT1 when headers &/or Roller Rockers are installed because they are less sensitive than the stock LT1 modules.

All input welcome !

:D

they do work well. BUT are prone to fail as well. they will help but wen they go back its NOT GOOD. just keep your LT1 KM as a spare.

Seems like these things were pretty cheap 'back in the day',... BUt I had trouble finding them for under $80 recently !

No problems on an ODB1 system ? Right ??
!

P.S. I WILL be keepnig the original "just in case" !

Thanx

:D

yeah they work better on an OBD 1 car anyway.

In conclusion, after reading this thread I am left with one question:

Should I get an LT4 knock module?

DemonWithin99 03-29-2010 06:09 PM

only if you plan to mod (ie. headers, loud catback, or one hell of a head/cam kit...)

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-29-2010 06:14 PM

Yeah Kev its gunna be a good idea after headers to get it. what will happen is the cumputer will pick up the headers as knock and retard the timing.

Do you have to do any PCM changed after switching the Modules, or just plug it in and run it?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-30-2010 12:01 AM

plug and play. its the only control the PCM has of the knock sensor is that module. on LT1's you cant tune the knock sensors like the LS1's can.

I just swapped my lt4 km from my stock pcm to my tuned pcm(madz28).It's pretty easy. It 10mm bolt to get the pcm out and a 20torks bit to remove the lt1km.

Good idea IMHO. I swapped to the LT4 KM when after I installed my Loudmouth, and it really helped.
