what do i need for LS1 rear and front brakes?
 

I want to do the LS1 front brake this winter, but I found a pretty good deal on a set of both front and back LS1 rotors from powerstop for $115 shipped. So now I'm thinking just put LS1 rear brakes on my car too. I got a bare rear end with no brake parts on it that I NEED THE BRAKE PARTS ANYWAYS. So I want to know what I'm going to need for the front, and what I'm going to need to put the LS1 rear brakes on my rear axle so when I do the swap I can just bolt it in new brakes and all and connect the lines and bleed them. Anyone have any info what I'll need to swap them? I posted this thread on ltxtech and got no replies. :(

I like the LT1 rear brakes better, but you will need spindles, backing plates, calipers, caliper lines, rotors and pads

Why do like lt1 rear brakes better?

The LS1 rear ebrake setup is a joke. the LT1 calipers have the ebrake as part of the caliper and it uses the rear pads and rotors as the ebrake. the LS1 setup uses a uni-shoe inside the hub of the rear rotor. after you get some miles on the car you will get a rust ridge on the rotor. like you would a typical rear drum setup. and at that point its a bitch to get the rotors off without fuckin up the shoes. And they dont hold for shit. To just point out a few flaws. Now granted the Ebrake on the LT1 calipers does have its leaking issues. But a far superior Brake setup regardless.

If u ever put drag wheels on ur car getting them to fit is easier with the LT1 calipers too. With my wheels guys have to grind down on the caliper to get the clearance needed. I just had to bolt them on and i was done.

make sure you get a complete setup off of a car. if you just buy shit seperate you might not get all the small crap you may need. like caliper hose brackets correct hardware etc... Better to buy a complete kit off of Ebay even. or i think Sciff5 might still have a setup? if so make sure you get knuckles. Hub bearings. calipers W/brackets and anti rattle clips. hoses and hose brackets. and of course NEWWWWW rotors and pads.

Personally I would buy a good set of pads and rotors, braided caliper lines and call it good. But that is me

what and keep LT1 front brakes? No way. not only do you save about 30 pounds off the front end. but better pad control with the seperate brackets and twin piston calipers. Ohh and an extra inch of rotor is always nice!!!
