Some wont like this

But I pulled the trigger on a built TH350 for the SS. Its a done deal already paid for. Iam going auto, so fuck it. I will probably be working back home so the motor might have to wait a little longer but I couldnt pass up the deal from a friend of mine down in Florida. He just rebuilt his th350 that was in his 800hp SS and decided to switch to a glide. So he sold me the trans and cooler for 600. Its fully built with the following.

Th350 w/ Reverse manual valve body and transbrake. Fresh rebuild (less than 10 miles). Has JW Heavy Duty 36 element sprag/drum assembly ($325), late model roller output sprag, long tail shaft (same length as 4L60 and T56), red clutches and new steels and a transbrake.

I will be getting a nice converter and a adj tq arm along with all the other stuff soon enough. And I will be stepping the gearing down to a 3.50 or so. Plus I will have my T-56 setup for sale sometime in the summer.

Youll be glad you went auto. Although an overdrive woulda been better because your gonna miss the highway cruisability that you hadwith that m6. Goodluck bud

smokinss 05-28-2011 01:25 AM

Yeah the only highway the car sees is a 30 min cruise to the track down here. Or going to meet up with the guys in West Palm for some street fun.

You seem to be more interested in the track so I think it's a good move. With a TH350 and a good converter that car will absolutely fly. And that is an amazing deal.

Oh ya then your good, youll love it!!!!

nice! autos the way to go!

Gonna be great on the track, the reverse manual valve body is gonna make you hate life on the street though. I'd keep the T56 on the shelf until you see how you like it

My84Z 05-28-2011 03:15 AM

There ya go I am thinking next time i need a clutch it'll be going auto also

smokinss 05-28-2011 09:18 AM

Yeah the way I figure it too is that the clutch and tranny was all gone through a little over a year ago so its in good shape. I can probably get some decent money for it and offset the cost of the swap too.

Ive ridden in my buddies 408 th400 setup a bunch and he drives it on the street all the time with no issues. Its just like having to down shift and up shift a t-56 but no clutch to deal with.

you really can't pass up that deal
