My Build log.

I wanted to keep track of the progress and get imput from you guys as I go along. I am trying to stay age correct.....meaning, cam, heads, supercharger ect.. would be on the market when the car was new. This is an "different" build. I am looking for a street car with lots of show appeal. I would like to run 11's though. It is a mild 383 with LE1 heads, 1.6RR, baby Crane 227 cam, 6.5lbs Powerdyne, stainless headers, ported intake and TB. Air, Smog, EGR, Cat are all eliminated. Running a 3600 stall and stock 10 bolt w/3.23 gears. Hoping for 410-425 to the wheels. The car is a 94 Z. So here goes, got a lot done so far but lots more to go......

Here is my spread sheet where I am tracking expenses.

Stort-list of mods to still do. In this progression (interior, Underhood, suspension and finally paint)

Lowering springs...SLP or better 1 inch drop
Full repaint....same color.
Reinstall stock radio
Install new wheels and tires
New brakes/slotted drilled rotors
Calipers...sandblast and powder coat.
Trans shift issue....no first gear??
Change over to the polished ported intake
Finish polishing fuel rails.
Install new polished valve covers.
Polish Alt
Install supercharger
Abs delete
Install line lock
Fuel line mod
Slow cranking starter issue??
Install headers
Clean up/wire tuck under hood
Carpets
Install the new leather interior
Fix slow window motors
Polish all underhood aluminum
Rears end?? Gears or new?

you may run 11's If you set the car up to hook with a decent tire. but lowering it and making it "look" good doesnt always help with traction. you are gunna have to get relocation brackets if you havent already adjustable lca's and panhard bar to re center the rear end. and an adjustable torque arm cross member to bring the instant center back out. lowering the car radically changes the angle of the torque arm and you need to bring the nose of it further UP towards the floor to correct it. just making power is only half the battle!! sorry to be long winded But i feel if i dont Really explain my point people just blow it off as opinion.

No man, I really appreciate the advise. I know I will need to work on getting the power to the ground and advise is always welcome, knowledge is power. Thanx for the great post. Willing to put together a parts list I should buy?

Here are some pics of what it looked like when I first got it back.....

Big Don sez bmr. I have had good luck with UMI. But either way they both offer a good set of lcas and panhard kit. As well as a tunnel mounted(noisier) torque arm or the tranny crossmember relocation cross memeber(allows you to reuse the stock torque arm if cost is an issue). And with either you will be able to properly angle the torque arm up. You are really just trying to get the instant center back under the car. I'm no master by any means. Other people may have better advise or more info on angles and shit but that will help you for sure.

In the process of polishing the supercharger, Headers are SS Kooks knock offs. Great deal for what they are. Purchased the springs off a fellow member.
