I believe you're correct on all that mike.
Only thing with the 6 speed vs 5 speed and gearing is yeah the final drive ratio between the two are different they work out to around the same in the end. 5th in the 5 speed and 6th in the 6 speed are about the same. Only advantage to 6 speed besides strength is the gears are closer together to keep you in the power band more.
6 speeds actually suck for drag racing as unless you have a higher rev limit you run out of gear in fourth and end up shifting with to make the quarter. Or over rev the crap out of fourth. Built 5 speed is the ticket for a subie drag car
6 speed is the road race choice. Gearing wise for a daily they are more or less equal on the highway.
