Considering he mentioned the stock hood I think he is talking about either the LS1 SLP lid conversion or the LT1 SS Ram Air System.

For the LS1 lid you have to hack up your radiator support and hood to get it to fit

For the LT1 SS intake you have to spend quite a few bucks to find one since they're hard to find, and they are considered a choke as compared to the other tube style aftermarket intakes

So based on that, I'd say go with the aftermarket SLP tube style intake Grovelet suggested, or any other intake like that.
