Default Headlight motor gear fix issue...

So my headlight motor has been grinding, which is a symtom of a worn gear. So today I finally got around to trying the quick fix of unhooking the arm off the motor and rotating the motor 180 degrees with the knob.

Technically, that did the trick. The headlight now goes up and down w/out grinding.

But, I have a problem now. When shutting the lights off, the door goes all the way down, then the motor reverses a bit, and the door raises back up about a 1/4 inch. So yes it's shut, but it sticks up a bit and is not down as far as the other side.

I tried unhooking it and rotating the knob a little bit more, but that didn't help.

Is there some way to adjust this??

Thanks!!!

try unplugging the headlight control module. its on the drivers side on your car i believe near the fuse boxes. it should reset the box and fix that issue. if it doesnt hit it with a hammer!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot!

Well, not the hammer part, although it's pretty damn tempting.

yeah the headlight control module is located down below and in front of the fuse panel on the d/s (under the hood) if it's on it's way out it's a real easy fix to swap it out and TAcreationsusa.com has them for like $30. shipped (i think)

ordered one for my cousin's POS last year.

Fixed it.

Easy fix actually. I got around to looking at it again, and I noticed the actuator arm wasn't contacting the bumpstop when the light was closed. Tightened up the nut on the arm to move it in more, and now it contacts the bumpstop.

Problem solved. Light closes in one shot, and is perfectly lined up.
