The Z has to be in the trailer tomorrow. Mike and his crew were having loads of problems with the heater core today. The repop one had a lot of cracks in it and was leaking everywhere. The NOS one would not hold pressure and was leaking internally. Even though the old one was a little rusty, it held pressure and they ended up putting it back in. The 44 year old one was the only one that would work and there wasn't enough time to screw with the new ones.

Also there were a loads of electrical gremlins to get worked out. The car is looking nice though.

Thanks to Jeff68 for the registration sticker template!

Pics from this morning.

Thanks Eric! Only one of the former owners is going. The main reason is that I was not sure if the car would be done in time.

The car is ready to go now though, with the one exception being the ammeter that is not working.

Underbody pics taken today:

A little late, but the exhaust manifold heat riser should be installed so that the weight is on the outboard side.

Are you sure Jeff? I asked Mike and Andrew to install it just like JohnZ said and to make it look like his Z/28 engine pictured below. They did exactly what I asked.

JohnZ wrote: “The “extension” was used on all cars at the RH exhaust pipe-to-manifold attachment, in addition to the heat riser valve; it supports the inside diameter of the packing, keeping it from disintegrating (it was also used on the other side). The illustration in the A.I.M. is incorrect – it should show the heat riser valve too. If you look in the “non-illustrated parts” sheet at the beginning of the L34/L35/L78 sections, under UPC 6, where it has the line item for “intake & exhaust manifolds & heat control”, it shows the “assembles same as production” symbol (the “heat control” is the heat riser valve). ”
