why even deal with a 305?
part it out and get a 350 or better.
most of those parts will work on a 350 block.

I'd just toss a set of cam bearings in it and call it a day. With everything else k wouldn't give up on it now.

On another note, how much for the 9" now lol?

Cammed 305, Minor bolt ons..
take that outta the sig then????
I would redo the bearings and try again.
make sure you use the correct break in oil and break in procedure!
I always over lube the cam and bearings with the assembly grease.
the front bearing looks like the lobe or gear messed it up but the zinc that is 1/2 gone looks like it got wiped out from no additive in the break in oil ?
(the bearings didnt come from a rebuild kit did they?
(reason i ask is I had a set of bearing go on me from a rebuild kit I got from PAW years ago and turned out to be a chinese brand bearing)
throw in a set of clevite bearings and be done with it!
correct me if im wrong but doesnt the cam bearing oil hole position supposed to be at 12 o clock!!!!!!!

definatley get the bearings changed and use good clevite bearings.
it can be done in the car but I would be concerned with the crank bearings aswell.
how was the oil pressure on that motor?
btw i have a bearing tool if ya need it .
ill have to remember who got it now though.

I knew the bearings were OK last time. Oil pressure was great 60psi cold, 50psi hot.

If you have the tool that would be great! I'm not sure when I'm doing them though. Motor is already torn apart so I'm just gonna yank it out and do them. Probably gonna do a new bottom end or something using some parts from Ohio crank.
