what are you running for a cam. what piston have you checked PTV before bothering degreeing it. if it was a CLOSE tolerance setup i would say its a must. but other wise dot to dot. especially if your using stock gears and a C6R chain?

Agreed, line em up at 6 and 12 and you should be fine. Unless there is something specific you're shooting for...btw my friend hasn't even started putting his cam in yet, but "promises" he should be done with it by this weekend. In other words, I'll probably see it 6 months after you've installed it lol

I always degree in my cams, I like knowing its EXACTLY where its supposed to be. When you get back Josh, you can use mine.

lets say its 3 degrees off. knowing that without an adjustable timing set its not changable? so unless its over a tooth off(~6-12 degrees) no harm can be caused by it. i dunno that my take. if it was a 1200 horse/7K+ rpm monster then do it. i could be wrong.

I was going to ask what you would do unless it was off by a whole tooth.

if the cam is FAR off the spec. it was ether ground incorrectly or the timing set is wrong. thats REALLY what your checking wen you degree a cam. just confirming the cam card. and 98% of the time they are right. and like i sed only if its a TIGHT motor. like PTV is speced under .100 then you check it.

I always use adjustable sets. I do it for piece of mind, that and because some cams I do are supposed to be installed other than "straight up"
