Hell I broke my Moser 9" back in 1994 after one year in the car with the old 408 sbc. The traction lock diff I originally had broke.

the torsen may not be stronger but it doesnt go to shit like an auburn. theyre both crap but the auburn wears out super fast.

93-98 cars had the Auburn limited slip differential, 99-02 had a Torsen posi. The Auburn has clutches that can wear out and are not rebuildable, the Torsen doesn't have wear parts but can fail mechanically. Pick your poison. If you plan lots of power in the future spend the money for a 9", if not find a 3.23 or 3.42 ten bolt, and if possible try to find one with verifiable low miles. You might also be able to find a posi unit by itself for sale, I've seen them come up on eBay occasionally.

If you want to just get the posi unit I can throw it in for you. Might even come out cheaper in the long run then save for a 9" or 12 bolt. Or just leave it and save for a goodddd rear end.

Well I don't think serious power will be in the future. Is the posi unit opt to break occasionally? And I would certainly be willing to do business with you

The auburn like alex sed is in all lt1 cars and its a "clutch" style posi. They wear based on there inherit design. and I personally have broken spider gears in them. Not strong. And once they wear they are throw away. So now what do you do. A4 with not a lot of power plans in the future there are a few aftermarket differentials these days that are loads better then the stock pieces. Eaton sells one called the HD. That's a pretty good unit. And if people say 10 bolts don't hold up at all. Ask sam about running 10.50's on a stockkk 10 bolt! It can be done.

Ive had 2 10 bolts 6 speed car over 15 1.6 60fts they obv are pretty weak but i never broke one When i had the 410s it was great. If you can swing a new rear def get one if not buy a lkq they come with a 6 month warranty and beat the shit out of it. the rear is a easy swap only a few hours.
