That sounds like they are talking out their asses to me, I've looked into hids a lot and just so you know, it's pretty hard to get pulled over for them. Because it's so hard for a cop to "prove" that they weren't factory installed and isn't worth their time. Also worst comes to worst, unplug the HIDs, plug the halogens back in and challenge the ticket saying they aren't installed anymore. When you are done, plug the HIDs back in. Also in regards to the housing being safe, if that housing comes with the HIDs, then it should be safe, if it melts, send it back.

I talked to me friend who is a Massachusetts police officer and asked him about the HIDs and he said they are completely legal as long as they aren't blue and even if they are a tint of blue, 99 percent of the cops out there won't give you a hassel especially considering that anything under 9k looks near white from 20 feet away or so. But there is no law saying you can't change your lighting system

Not to be an asshole but putting hid's in a sealed beam housing is a bad idea. The light pattern still sucks balls and they just make the shitty lighting turn into stadium. Ihave 2 low beams that I did a conversion with 6000k's in and took them out because they were that bad. I was blinding everyone and after having the same experience being blinded by all the HID'd out civics around here I took them out! Moral of story they barely improve the stock lighting, just makes everything bright white and they blind oncoming drivers. Stock Halogens FTW!!!

You need housings made for the HID bulbs to get the correct lighting pattern and receive the full benefits of the increased light.

Correct Alex. BUT on the camaros with there smaller headlight sealed beams no on makes a housing for it. those guys are stuck customizing a sealed beam and sticking an HID bulb in it. You have that option Wich i recomend to get HID compliant housings or they will melt if your not driving and there on.

thats what i just stated mike, i dont recommend sticking amd gluing an hid bulb in the sealessealed beam housing because thats what i did and it sucked!!! i got regular halogens now and they look like they should, for some reason the color of the lights made the front end look awkward at night too, but maybe thats just because i have gloss buckets....
