My buddy had 555's on the front and he said compared to his Sumitomos, the 555's were a little spongy-ierrr as far as steering. They're a soft sidewall drag tire, so for the front I'd say that the trip5's aren't IDEAL, but they'll work.

555R's out front? if so then your right. the regular 555's have a stiffer sidewall then most.

555R- drag radial
555RII - auto-cross tire

Yeah im looking at the regular 555's but i don need any for the front. Just getting two rears. Hopefully selling my green 4th gen tomorrow and if so, going home and ordering ASAP.

IF i had the money I would do 555RII out back and a 555 in the front for a street tire combo for a street strip I would then have a set of street strip wheels and run mickys on the rear and a et street dot front

Tried to have the 295/35/18 Nt-05's mounted today and they dont fit. They are rubbing on the bumpstops. Took off bumpstops but its hitting the mounting unit for the bumpstops. Added some 1/4 spacers to the wheels and it doesnt rub but i can only get like 4 turns on the lugs. Oh well. Already gonna swap these for the 285 nt-05. The 295's on the car dont rub because they're 2 inches taller and go over the bumpstop completely. I gonna save like $40 anyway for getting the smaller ones.

ya that is why the SS comes with different bump stops

You grind down the bump stops or cut them off completely(like my car) Not hard. a 2" taller tire is not a good idea.Well, neither is spacers on the rear wheels.

Well i already put in an order for exhange and getting the 285's. Only like 1/4 difference width.

Waitin for the 285's to come in. And for shits and giggles i cut off the bump stops.

Thought these tires were supposed to be good. I just got home from leaving work and the whole damn sidewall separated from the tire and fucked it all to hell. Good thing i got the warranty. The tires prob had like 600 miles on them.

could be old tires...i always check the date on them before i have em put on(places like to sell old shit thats been sitting)..either that or u just got a bad set...sucks tho sorry to hear

Where do they stamp the production date on the tire? Calling them right now to get my replacement.

Look for the dot number on the sidewall near the rim edge. the last few number's should read like this- 4209 or something like that. The first 2 #'s are the week they are made and the last 2 are the year.

if they are NT-05's though they have not been around long

That was my first thought too, they just came out with that tire.

I have the T/A KDW IIs and couldn't be happier:happy: (Make sure to get the IIs which is the 'New' tread pattern)

They hook well in the dry, and do fine in the rain. They only issue is they only come in 18" sizes for F-bodys (Which is a non-issue as you've already got 18s).

I run 275/18/35s with no issues.

they were put out for sale in 09 doesnt mean the ones they sold were produced right at that point for something they have been workin on for 2 years prior...anyways still over a year old and u dont kno how long they sat or what type of temp/environment either..it was just a possibility i threw out there cause it happened to my cuz in his brand new VW same exact thing happened and the tires were supposed to be "new"

true, but all tires have at least a 10 year shelf life

ya but i kno at least the drag radials come with the temp warning...im assuming the nt-05s would as well.

thats why i burnout so much, im afraid if the tires get to old theyll explode!
