I'm guessing that he's going to have a tough time with insurance.

He might not have comprehensive....so car insurance will pay him zero.

If he does have comprehensive, the insurance company will not care if he had a million dollar jet engine in the car....they will probably pay him $4,000.

He might try to get his homeowner's insurance to pay it, but he will probably need a high powered lawyer to even get a dollar out of them.

He's got to be in a tough spot with this and I'm hoping he comes out ok.

I didn't even think that maybe the building's insurance might cover it. As far as mods go, if you have receipts you should be able to get something for them, I know I got paid for some stereo stuff in an old car of mine that was totaled. But only because I had receipts.
