Anyone have any built LT1 heads?
Just figured I would ask...does anyone have any built lt1 heads for sale?
I know theres a couple sets on CZ28 for sale. They usually have some listed there
OK ill check there as well, thanks. I think I may just do a cam / springs. So anyone let me know if they have that for sale as well...
surf the FS sections on the forums. Theyll pop up. Whats the power range u wanna c?
Well the heads are getting pulled soon (for new HGs and ARP bolts) so if its going to happen, I have to find one very soon. I was looking for 325-350whp if I can get it. I have I/E/H/EWP etc etc. I was going to keep stock heads. I am unsure of what cam is best, I have found a few that look to work well with stock heads, so whatever I find for a good price, that will be it. Is it a MUST to upgrade the springs with any aftermarket cam? Pardon my ignorance, but I am slightly new to LT1s.
i have a cc304 cam and didnt have to change my springs. All depends on the lift of the cam
Is it an off-the-shelf or custom grind? And what kind of power do you make with it?
its a off the shelf cam. Looking around probly 330rwhp
Nice, thats decent power. Think thats a good cam for my goals? Or would you recommend something else? Emissions is of no consequence, the only thing that matters is that I will be sticking with stock heads, and would prefer to leave the valvetrain untouched...
i think pizza may chime in on this one when he gets home he knows usually where some are kicking around
I wouldn't go with anything smaller then a cc305 but that is just me. Also if you are pulling the heads your probably just better off getting a lloyd elliot h/c setup and do it only once.
i agree with Jon. i would keep stock unported heads If your gunna have the time and money do it once. But didnt you also say you were doing an oil pump? Why? i wouldnt recomend doing any power adders like pp heads and cam if you having bottom end issues.
I am having oil pressure issues, it is dropping at high RPMs so I have a feeling the previous owner threw in a HV pump or possibly left out the baffle. If I had known about it when I had the pan off to do the timing set I would have done it then. As for asking about the cam, the reason I dont want to touch the heads is because Im a bit tight on cash right now, and it is my DD most of the year, so I just want to keep it somewhat simple (for now). If I could find a cheap, used H/C setup very soon, maybe that would change things, or if I find a cam that fits the bill. Otherwise, I have also been comtemplating just getting it running and 100% then a 150 shot in the spring, which is seeming more and more likely...
CC503 if u want to go cam only.
if not get a head cam package. oh and do the springs if u can. |
Well, the thing is, I dont think I can do springs...i need a cam that I can DEF keep the stock springs with...
if you are pulling the heads springs are tit ????
WITH ANY CAM WORTH DOING STOCK SPRINGS ARE NOT GOING TO CUT IT
Seriously boomer we need to get u hooked on phonix. The mix and match shit has to go.

OK oil pressure dropping at high rpm Period OR high rpm under a load say full or close to full throttle? If thats the case its not your oil pump And like i had sed previous your main bearings have excessive wear possibly due to the blown head gasket?? Now a HV pump install can fix this BUT i would only do it for a temp fix and get a shortblock ready to go for next season or so.
As far as a cam goes. A i wouldnt do one IF your bottom end is weak. But if your dead set on it.... Get a CC304. everyone bashes it BUT 941LE has gone a best so far of 12.7 and he hasnt pulled a head OR changed a valve spring. Thats your best bet for a stock tune stock springs cam. there is not anyother cam on the market with the correct specs to keep stock springs. hope any of that helps. |
ya but even with the 304 don't they want at least a LT4 spring
and bitch there were no spelling errors in my last post so STFU |
no they dont boomer. the STOCK LT1 Spring is all thats required.
The oil pressure would drop under load I think, I cant quite remember exactly, its been a while. Thanks so much for the input.
