Need NOS Help

I have been entertaining the thought of running NOS on my LT1, I keep getting tossed between wet and dry.. keep getting info back and forth and so on. I also read that I can run a 100 shot safely but IDK.. Also was told Need to retard timing @ that point and colder plugs?

Thanks in Advance :Chevy_anim: Fans!

With u not knowing if there is a hypertech tune ir something in there u r proba ly better off not. However definatly do a wet shot since a dry would be shot before the maf and u would need tuning. You can run a 150 safely on it lt1's love nitrous. Just get some colder plugs like ngk tr6's and run a small gap like .038 i wouls also run it for the first time on the dyno and run a window switch. Might also wanna look at an antibalooning tourque converter

well in instance of my 93 cant i find the pcm and see if it has an aftermarket chip on it.. Considering they need to be manually burnt

Yes you would be able to tell if its a burnt chip. I wouldn't recomend running nitrous on a 1993 unless you do as John sed and run it on a dyno first. And I would also get a window switch as well as a retard box. The 93 runs almost 40* timing at wot on stock tune. So you'd have to make sure it doesn't see that on spray or you can kiss your motor good by potentially.

Regardless of what kind or how big of a shot it's a crap shoot with 153k on the bottom end. Most manufacturers don't recommend spraying anything over 100k.
However, I have heard of a 200 shot living for a while on a motor with that many miles so it all luck of the draw lol.
Do you feel lucky?

hmmm I have been thinking about selling my set up hmmmmmm

Batman 10-21-2010 10:05 PM

It's up to you but with 153K I'd be worried about a ticking timebomb. Might be better spending the money toward a fresh shortblock

Motaboata 10-22-2010 12:02 AM

Well see the thing is.. A 403 Stroker LS2 Might be falling in my lap very cheap.. so @ this moment I am not spending money on LT1 unless its maintence stuff.. Just in case it actually happens

Just be warned the LT1 to LSX swap is not cheap or as easy as you may think

so just missing purge kit

My84Z 10-22-2010 01:39 AM

purge during the burnout noone needs to know it is there ;)

Motaboata 10-24-2010 01:48 AM

how much would I have to retard the timing?

My84Z 10-24-2010 02:42 AM

rule of thumb is 2 degrees per 50 hp however 40 is alot so for you I would say atleast get to like 30 32 for a 100 shot.
