|
looking at those makes me want these!!!!!
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/parts-...l#post13394553 i PMED the guy we'll see. my little LturdONE might have some real power come spring. thats if i can keep it from blowing the fuck up!!!!! |
ive seen them heads and everytime i see the cost 4k new to do i laugh
the heads cost around 800$ new bare and flow around 290/210 stock according to the emial i have from rhs them selfs an the numbers hes saying with under cut valve stem valves and just a good valve job i have seen posted right around his numbers done on a 4.155 bore with exh pipe. avg price for conversion is 400$ springs, retainers and locks are around 300-600$ them valves last i ever seen them where only around 200$ for set of 16 for that size.pretty much the same as manley race series valves.. |
Dont lie pizza your shit aint going no where. LOL!!! J/k bud, I hope you do get going again.
Those heads seem like a pretty good deal if they get fixed good. |
To me that head looks like complete junk. You can spend the time welding the hel out of them, pressure test them ect but you never get the rockwell hardness out of the welded/surrounding area's.The welding weakens the strength of the aluminum. I'd probly buy 1 new head and have it copy'd/ported to the other head.
|
a proper welded head will work just fine..i cant tell you how many people i know who have heads welded from melting, dropping valves and such and these are outlaw style cars such as 275,radial and 10.5
|
I know they work.Been around big racers for a long time.I just know what happens when the welded head lets go again. To me personally it's not worth risking a motor with a heavilly repaired head to save a few bucks.
Just an opinion. |
oh i know..this is really just junk motor..when i go turbo ill probley turn around and sale these heads and get some diff heads probley some sb2.2's or a 15 degree head..
this motor im doing now ill only have 2k into if i dont end up putting rods and pistons in her |
RFD 15* would be sick. For what you plan to do I dont see welds not holding up. I've seen people like Chris U. weld the complete deck before.
|
yep if you do the welds right and prep the heads right welds do hold..
the rfd monster 15 are sick heads,,i aint going to toss 5k heads on my turbo engine though..ill be in the 2k range..if i was going to toss that much in heads then it would be a gb2300 head so i could make over 1700hp with out having to worry about the mirror chambers on sb2.2s,sb2s,15,18 or 23 degree heads..with the middle exh ports together they run to hot right there and kill the heads, block, gaskets an so on even when you run water right into the center of them for cooling. thats why you seen bowman, shane stack and others get away from them style of heads because they where having problems with them once they had large turbos an making killer hp. |
