looks sweet! cant watch the vid for some reason tho

JoeyxGx2 02-21-2011 07:51 PM

Probably because I posted it from my phone, I'll try it again later

My84Z 02-21-2011 08:00 PM

Works on my iphone nice car man.

Formula413 02-21-2011 08:30 PM

That's a burly sounding cam

Batman 02-21-2011 10:02 PM

looks good, and dear god at least you have plenty of injector if you want to do more, 60LBS is a bit much but leaves room to grow.

TBerry95z28 02-21-2011 10:09 PM

lookin and sounding good! don't like the tips bein cockeyed but still deff nasty. what'd it put down for numbers?

JoeyxGx2 02-21-2011 11:30 PM

Street tuned..No numbers yet, I will be talking to don hopefully kinda soon but I want to change my stock intake setup before I get a full tune just not sure one what I want so many options...anyone have any ideas on what kinda on air intake/TB/MAF/manifold i should run ? It has stock ls6 heads (#243 castings) cam being 230/237 .540/.540 lift 110 lsa i have no idea on what would be best for the intake setup ... From what i researched hopefully at around 380 whp.. Idk though

..weld holdng tips straight is broken, has one exhaust leak at the header to collector on the right side, the band that were used are cheap ones.. Gotta get better clamps and new gaskets gunna wait till it gets warmer out

Batman 02-21-2011 11:34 PM

your current LS6 intake and stock MAF are fine, I'd get a ported stock T/B. I've heard good things about the Lingenfelter intake, but I personally don't know anyone with one. I've also heard the factory intake is really good on the GTO's so it may not even be worth a change

My84Z 02-21-2011 11:49 PM

Get a cold air intake and ask Don to port your tb when u get it tuned other then that fix your exhaust or get a new setup

BadBird505 02-22-2011 12:02 AM

sounds good!

99% sure the stock intake is sealed off from the engine bay at least as well as any of the CAI intakes you can get. If there isn't a baffle or a flow restriction in your way I'd just leave it alone

JoeyxGx2 02-22-2011 02:32 AM

I'll do some research on cai but at least port the throttle body, I like the exhaust setup I have just gotta tweak it a little bit, just picked it up Saturday so I have some time to mess with a few things

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-22-2011 02:50 AM

Awesome Car Man! Fix that exhaust and get the TUNE Done soon as well as

So just because the air box has a shield that blocks it from engine temp air... means its just as good as a non restrictive boxless intake setup?

http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GT3013/GTSRCH....html?a_aid=sz

Granted there numbers are bull shit. but if the stock setup was so good? why do people A: make them and B: make better times with an aftermarket one?

Just sayin

JoeyxGx2 02-22-2011 03:22 AM

I want to get one anyway, get that sweet groan when it's sucking in air, but the stock manifold and MAF are good ? I shouldn't just get an 85mm Z06 MAF since I Lready have an ls6 manifold and ls6 heads ? Makes sense to me..

Just gotta figure out which CAI is the best, heard the k&n makes the MAF and IAT read wrong ?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-22-2011 03:34 AM

Over oiled filter causes your maf and iat issues. run an un oiled or LIGHTLY oiled filter if need be. i just cleaned mine and didnt reoil it. ill get a paper filter next time its dirty. Anyway. the kit i showed you, you can use a filter "bag" cover and run real light oil and no dirt will pass the filter and its ALOT better then the TINY 04 GTO air filters

TBerry95z28 02-22-2011 03:35 AM

haha oh no more k&n talk for me lol. they're okay but yea alot of people say that I have k&n and like it but some dont. and if don does the tune he'll quiet the cam some but make more power! lol he made my cam quiet as hell but I love it

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-22-2011 03:37 AM

the "quiter" the cam as you say just means it wont cam surge and drive like shit! haha

TBerry95z28 02-22-2011 03:54 AM

exactly right dr.pizza hahaha

in order
A: people are lemmings and believe everything they read, we've all done it and you are full of shit if you say you haven't ever purchased something for the car that claimed to give you X HP and pretty much did shit, hell I had SLP longtubes at one point that actually cost me HP over stock manifolds, they were crap but they were the only game in town and made big claims and everyone with their seat of the pants dyno's said how great they were.

B: If you feel $250-$400 is worth it for .001 at the track have at it, i'm just saying there is money better spent elsewhere, the GTO has a pretty darn good intake box on the 6.0 engines, I can't imagine the 5.7 is all that different. And unless you are talking a gain of .5 and 5 MPH from the intake any gains could be from weather, wind direction, launch, shifting differently even tire pressure, etc. There is no intake that will give you a significant gain over a stocker unless there is a restriction and pretty sure there isn't one on a GTO. A $40 high flow filter (preferably oilless) will do the exact same thing

If you are buying it for looks and sound then by all means have at it, but I don't see you getting a whole lot more HP from one except maybe way up in the RPM range

JoeyxGx2 02-22-2011 09:40 AM

My car is a street car, I'm not lookin to gain .5 And 5 mph.. I doubt I'll even bring my car to the track this year, but I'm not rich so before I buy anything I'll poke around ls1gto.com see if I can find a thread about stock versus aftermarket

JoeyxGx2 02-22-2011 10:59 AM

I was also thinking UDP and TB spacer, what do you guys think ?

KLAB 02-22-2011 01:41 PM

Looks and sounds real nice man!! I hate to but I must critique by saying you should fix those tips out the back and spray some clear on those tail lights and wetsand/buff em!!! They look dull, but if you like the look keep it. :klab:

Monaro body kit!!!!

Batman 02-22-2011 05:34 PM

Maybe on the UDP if you get a good one and replace the crank bolt with an ARP bolt. T/B spacer is a waste of time and may cause fitment issues with the intake (although it appears you have a good chunk of room between the intake and fan shroud).

MTBSully 02-22-2011 08:33 PM

couple things:

1. fixed crooked exhaust tip
2. Clear/wetsand/ploish tail lights

then you should be good. Car looks great man

JoeyxGx2 02-23-2011 12:42 PM

I bought new taillights, going to retint them then clear/wet sand/buff and as for the tips the weld that holds them straight broke, easy 5 min fix just too lazy cause it's cold haha thanks for the compliments guys, this is the car I've wanted for the last 5 years :D just a few things here and there and she'll be perfect :)

How bout for my intake I just replace that stupid MAF to TB tube and keep the stock airbox just with a k&n for now ?? I bought 2 no name used intakes for $25 on ls1gto well see where that take me, same set up as the k&n and various Mysore should improve flow numbers, I just gotta get a block off shield for the filter

Is there any gains from the TB spacer ? And don't I need to run different serpentine belts with the UDP ?

KLAB 02-23-2011 09:48 PM

wtf is a tb spacer gon do lol.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-24-2011 02:09 AM

it increases plenum size. for what they cause in leaks vs. the hp/track times they gain they are HARDLY worth it. i see no need to replace the stock elbow. the ribbing isnt any hurt in flow and does effect anything. the bottle neck is the small air inlet on the 1994 gto. if your gunn a cheap it out and do a kn drop in. pull the box and cut the air inlet larger and stick the box back in.

never seen one of those :p

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-24-2011 02:23 AM

bahahah talking to ben about his 1994 tranny God Dammit!!! 2004!!!!! FUCK YOU!!!!

JoeyxGx2 02-24-2011 11:27 AM

It's either I cut the box or just buy a CAI lol and as for a TB spacer.. Not worth the $110. Going to port my LS1 TB leave the MAF and manifold for now until I eventually upgrade and port and polish the 243s way down the road

1994 GTO eh ?? That's a pretty rare vehicle right there lolzz

KLAB 02-24-2011 01:18 PM

get one and tap a couple of nitrous lines in it then its worth it lolll

JoeyxGx2 02-24-2011 10:32 PM

I wanna do nitrous but say goodbye to rear axles differential and tranny haha

My84Z 02-24-2011 11:40 PM

Nah that depends on how you use it you can use a progressive controller and window switch to ease into it. However being a street car you do not want to get caught running the bottle on the street. better off with a s/c or turbo.

JoeyxGx2 02-25-2011 11:26 AM

Nitrous = cheaper my buddy is selling a wet kit for $300 right now NIB :D !

My84Z 02-25-2011 02:26 PM

Your forgetting alot of stuff besides the 300 dollar kit

Exactly, that is how you blow up engines, expect to spend about $1000 to do any system right and increase if you want to up the hit. Def do not skimp on electronics with happy gas.

My84Z 02-25-2011 07:51 PM

At the very least u need a timing controler or tune and colder plugs
