WTB SS or cowl hood for 3rd gen Z28
 

I am looking for a bolt on cowl hood or SS hood for my 91 camaro. Willing to travel up to 100 miles or so to pick it up. I am located in Southeastern Mass. Hood must be in good usable shape. I do NOT want cowl hood scoops or stock hoods that have been modified. Thanks.

Yes but it took flight last year while driving down the highway. The hood delaminated and I lost the top section. I went back and picked it out of the woods the next day but it needs to be glued back together and the glue I need it almost $400 because I have to buy by the case and I need a special gun to shoot it out.

that sucks make them refund you!!!!

I tried but they said it was over a year old. They offered to send me another one at 10% off.

if you need the 3M gun i have it AND i would use a few tubes of 3M panel bond and clamp it for 2 days and it will be better then new.

^ this. I 100% agree. If the top section survived it's flight relatively unscathed just do that and save the money.

Thanks. I found this site last night that has a few different epoxies and sealers. I am going to call Eastwood today and see what they have. I want to take the cheapest way out right now. I will also be putting some hood pins on the hood this time around so if anyone feels like making some suggestions on them then please feel free to do so. I do NOT want those gay ass chrome ones. I'm looking for a aircraft quality stainless low profile design.

I bought my shit off ebay and it was half price from anywere else. And with ebay as long as you know what your looking at its all 3m!! And ask ron he has some nice keyed low profile hood pins.

Before I go and order anything I am going to inspect the top section of the hood and see if it is as good as it looks. If there is any small cracks in it at all then Im just going to junk it and get another hood.

What I have found is that water was the ultimate cause of this hood failing. The scoop opening was cut out as well as the rear cowl area. I cant even count how many times I have opened my hood and water poured out bottom near the hinges. If any of you have opening in your hoods then you better make sure water is not collecting in it. This may steer me toward getting regular cowl hood....again.

I'll take the old hood if you're gonna junk it.

Which gun do you have? I found a few 3M products but they all use different guns depending on the size of the cartridge and the mix ratio


Update: The frigggen gun I neeed is $509 friggen dollars from 3M. What the hell is wrong with those people? The 200ml cartridge is $40.

You don't really NEED the gun. If you really don't want to borrow pizzas just stick a screwdriver in the back end and force equal parts out of both sides. Then make sure you mix them well. Works just the same. Not nearly as clean but gets the job done

I cant do that with a short work time on the product. Plus I have to do 3 sides and a shit load of spots around the middle of the hood. THis is turning ino a PITA just looking for the shit I need. I hate my car.

i have the 200ml manual gun. works with almost all of there 2 part epoxys. i used it with this i believe. worked Great to glue down the fiberglass sail panel on my old Trans Am.

Im still trying to find the perfect product. If I pay shipping, would you ship it to me for the time needed? Maybe a one week turn around? Im in Westport Mass.

If I cant find a hood then it looks like I may have to put some old ass sloppy engine mounts back in my car AND mill my intake down so that my engine sits at least an inch or so lower to allow me to use my factory steel hood. Then I am still going to have to buy the hood blisters and those MFers are not cheap either. FML
