Pickup truck? Any ideas?

Hey my friend just blew the transmission on his chevy impala for the second time with only 70 k or something like that on the car and he is sick of the thing. He wants to get a truck now and I suggested the Chevy Silverado or the new Nissan titans because I've heard a lot of good things about them despite the name Nissan. He is looking at this one in particular. I was wondering about any feedback from you guys? Thanks guys

for 15 grand and being a 2004 model year you could get a 2500HD Duramax for that. i dunno seems alot of money for an OK truck. Or even a 6.0 powerstroke. depends on what he wants to do with the truck also. if a grocery getter why even bother getting a full size and waste gas? but if hes gunna tow or anything worthy of a full size truck i wouldnt get a titan.

I wouldn't buy a Titan, if you are going to go ricey get a Tundra. If it is just going to be an everyday conveyance I would get a 1500 Silverado or an F-150. The diesels are cool but if you don't need it for a work truck or heavy towing they don't serve much purpose (apart from being very, very cool). You can find decent 02+ silverados for under $10,000 now, sometimes way under

Sorry man, I am in the Duramax camp, you are the ENEMY!

SLP IROC-Z 12-01-2009 03:25 AM

so you are biased as well

Batman 12-01-2009 04:03 AM

Ahhh but I didn't plug my bias, I gave him an objective response from personal experience

black heartbeat 12-01-2009 04:23 AM

well he wants something that can haul and has a lot of "get up and go" his words, oh and now he is telling me he doesn't want a diesel and he wants a 1/2 ton

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-01-2009 04:57 AM

chevy 1500 FTW!! 5.3 is a GREAT engine and with Great milage and reliabilty!!

SLP IROC-Z 12-01-2009 05:26 AM

380hp tundra!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-01-2009 05:28 AM

Tundra has great towing capacity But there rear suspension Sux!!! and there payload is terrible. plus all the little issues they are having id hardly buy a Tundra for More then a 1500 Chevy IMO

SLP IROC-Z 12-01-2009 05:35 AM

but they run 14s stock!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-01-2009 05:53 AM

Come On Joe!!!!!

SLP IROC-Z 12-01-2009 05:56 AM

worlds toughest truck!

DemonWithin99 12-01-2009 07:22 AM

the Nissan isn't a bad deal should be able to talk them down to an even $14k for it. only bias toward GM so I'll say Silverado or Sierra. though the titan and tundra do put up a fight. (never buy Ford) tranny's always crap.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-01-2009 07:56 AM

Funny you say that Demon. the tranny in the powerstroke and 3v 5.4 is actually damn near bullet proof. its the thing in front of it that has the issues!!

black heartbeat 12-01-2009 09:41 AM

I just found out the fucker wants four wheel drive as well and something that costs less than 18 or 20k. I'm still telling him to go with a silverado

Batman 12-01-2009 03:35 PM

A 5.3 Silverado is probably your best bet, especially for the price. You can get one and dump a maggie on it for less then a Titan

irockidz28 12-01-2009 10:46 PM

dont forget about the new chevy 1500 6.2L 403hp!

and i got to put a X2 for the dmax over the powerchoke...yes it is biased because i have one

Batman 12-01-2009 11:07 PM

Yeah good luck getting one for $18-20K

irockidz28 12-01-2009 11:34 PM

thats true..the 5.3 is prolly the best bang for the buck..pretty good power ratings and they last forever...my moms suburban has 202,000 miles on it and the only repairs we have had to do is a fuel pump, tensioner, and of course brakes

DemonWithin99 12-02-2009 12:19 AM

I got a 4.3l gmc sanoma 4x4
