truck shopping.....

getting the itch, selling the s10 and working on getting the numbers lined up right.

I want one of these.

much quieter, more comfortable, and has the same dohc vvt 3.6l as the camaro and cts.

just gotta sell the s10 and find the right deal. Would really like this color, but they haven't started on them. probably won't till next month or two.

They look NICE! The gas mileage looks good too.

HASTINGSRJ 11-22-2014 12:50 AM

They are nice. We had a few Canyons at work and they sold quick! However the fuel mileage is about the same as a full size V8 truck. But that V6 is a really good motor. I drove a full size Sierra double cab with it and it gets up and moves.

Z28 11-22-2014 06:19 AM

I wish GM would come out with another compact truck with a turbo 4 banger. I love having a truck but I like the gas mileage of a car too

DavidS 11-22-2014 11:45 AM

When I checked the mpg, I was looking at an article on the 2015.

Quote:

2015 Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon to net up to 27 mpg with 4-cylinder
http://www.autoblog.com/2014/09/22/2...nomy-official/

From Chevy's website, it looks like a 2015 with the 3.6L DOHC V6 engine 4WD gets 24 mpg on the highway.

Just wait a while. They are coming out with a diesel version

DemonWithin99 11-22-2014 07:37 PM

yeah I thought about holding back for the diesel, but the 3.6l will do just fine.

I mean in terms of a platform similar to an S10. I don't like having a big truck I like my little ones lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-22-2014 10:31 PM

go ahead if you wanna do timing chains every 60-80k miles. take a look at the traverse TSB's same motor as those Not the camaro. slightly different. and primarily the timing chain stuff. all different part numbers.

DemonWithin99 11-23-2014 11:30 PM

Was unaware they put that motor in anything other than the camaro/cts...?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 01:02 AM

the 3.6 ohc motor is the same. timing chain is terrible design. they use the standard link belt style chain from the crank to an idler(were the old mid engine camshaft used to be) and then from that idler a chain roller type to each over head cam drive gear sohc/dohc. Same concept. tsb's for engine rattle. timing tensioner. crank no start. broken upper chain. rough idle cam crank sync codes. lower chain stretch. they just suck.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 01:03 AM

i say do what you want. hoping they fixed the newest versions. But chances are like all new GM Junk they didnt.

DemonWithin99 11-24-2014 07:12 AM

Ehh.... if it doesn't get recalled for something else, hopefully it happens under warranty.... lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 03:34 PM

yeah you'll get one done under warranty. next one will be on you. i really hate how cheap GM has gotten. im not a new GM guy. id buy a subaru over any GM at this point.

KLAB 11-24-2014 03:45 PM

Mike, what year would you say you lose your faith in GM cars?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-24-2014 04:45 PM

08-09 id say after that they went cheap on everything. and i noticed a lot of issues with stupid shit. like steering wheels falling the fuck off and shit.... i mean come on.

DemonWithin99 11-25-2014 03:36 PM

I've had Nissan high on my list, but really like the new look of the colorado.

frankzlt1 11-25-2014 07:57 PM

Don't they make a 5.3L version.

The older Colorado/Canyon had the 5.3 for only a year or so. The new ones have 4 or 6 cylinder only with the diesel coming out soon.

Formula413 11-27-2014 12:50 AM

Even with a little less HP I'd go diesel all day.

Z28 11-27-2014 03:22 AM

I hate that they're putting a diesel in these. Totally defeats the purpose of having a compact truck when it costs as much as a full size. I'd like to get a newer truck in a few years but if this is what GM has to offer I'll just keep mine

Formula413 11-27-2014 04:33 AM

That's one serious gripe about the Colorado/Canyon, the price tag is pretty stiff. Personally I think it's insane how much pickups in general cost.

DemonWithin99 11-27-2014 06:52 AM

they really wanted the diesel for fleet vehicles, work trucks, but put a big suspension on it and give it 4wd. you got yourself a toy.

HASTINGSRJ 11-27-2014 04:29 PM

I can't wait to drive the diesel version. 181hp and 369tq, should move that little truck pretty good!

DemonWithin99 01-29-2015 05:48 AM

one step closer today, got an official quote on the new one and the buyer for the s10 may want it by the weekend.

DemonWithin99 01-29-2015 06:49 AM

You can say that again...

That's a nice truck, i sat in them at the auto show. If i was in the market for a truck that's the one i would get.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-30-2015 10:46 PM

only thing about short/small beds. when you actually need the truck for a truck. and even a queen sized mattress doesn't fit......

smokinss 01-31-2015 12:11 AM

Snagged this up new years eve. 07 5.3 2wd Z71 LTZ. Loaded. Leather, heated seats, JVC touch screen, Bose system, magnaflow exhaust etc etc.

Well aware of the short bed flaws in cargo management, have had the s10 do some pretty impressive hauling though..

DemonWithin99 02-01-2015 11:04 PM

She has been found!!!http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psf170ef20.jpg

frankzlt1 02-03-2015 12:06 PM

That's the truck ur getting and is that ur ta next to it. You found one at Terryville chevy.

DemonWithin99 02-04-2015 01:45 AM

yes, that's the truck, had a friend drive me up, as payment for services rendered he got to drive the bird home.

this was one of only 3 crew cab z71's left within 300 miles that wasn't on deposit or on hold. The price worked out perfectly, almost exactly what I was looking to spend from the start.

If I didn't get it when I did, I would have never made it home from work the last two nights. It drives unbelievably comfortably, and effortlessly. They did make a few modifications to the 3.6l like a deeper oil pan and a few other internal upgrades for strength.
Took it off to play in the 10" of snow we got around here tackled the untouched lots with ease and never a fear of getting stuck. Even helped pull a suburban out of a jam.

So far I am loving it, just thinking of what kind of vinyl to throw on it. I have an idea in mind, just need to let the $ work itself out. Maybe get something on it over the summer. Definitely a red/white/blue, aggressive/off road/racing kind of feel.

Though that's fun to look forward to, here it is. The 2015 Truck of the year in Summit White. Colorado Z71 crew cab, short bed.

frankzlt1 02-04-2015 02:05 AM

That's a great looking truck, glad your happy with it thats all that matters.

DavidS 02-04-2015 12:23 PM

Looks great!!!

If you're going to be pulling vehicles out of snow banks, you might need a winch on it.

Formula413 02-04-2015 03:52 PM

Looks great!
