Engine noise..
So i have some nice ticking coming from my engine. I have no clue what it could be. I'm new to the Ls world and not that mechanically inclined. So im afraid to pull the valve covers and take a look inside. It sounds loud when i first start it up and as the engine gets warmer it gets quieter but never goes away so i know its not piston slap. Cant be too bad because it drives/runs fine has good oil pressure and i didn't notice any power loss. Just recently i can hear a noise when im cruising around 1600 rpm that wasn't there before, just when im on the gas. Seems it has gotten worse because it use to go away after it warms up so i just ignored it but now it stays so im thinking its not piston slap. Is there anyone in the area that knows these engines that could listen to it for me? I called Don and talked to the lady asked if i could bring it on by so he could listen to it for me. I left my name and number but i haven't heard anything back and that was last Wednesday i believe. I know he is a busy guy so i don't really wanna bother him. Car has 15,XXX miles so its kind of frustrating  I made a video on my GF's camera but i wasn't home all weekend and forgot to put it on the computer and she took the camera back so i wont have a video until this weekend.

I forgot to mention this. When i first bought the car it didn't tick at all. I wasn't too sure when the oil was last changed because it only had 10,500 miles on it when i bought it. At the time i have never given a car an oil change before so i bought some M1 5w-30 and went to the local shop and had them change the oil. Two days later the shop calls me and tells me to come pick up my oil.???? So im like i gave you the oil i wanted you to use but i guess they didn't use it. So i went to the shop grabbed it and went to the store n bought everything i needed to give it an oil change. That's when i noticed the piston slap when the engine was cold. Its been like that ever since that day. Even after i changed it to M1. Im not saying its the oil they used that caused the slap but i wondering if there was something wrong with the car from the previous owner and they covered it up with some thick ass oil. Anyways now i have a tick all the time. Thanks for any input!

def need to hear it to be able to get an idea...id give don a call again maybe he didnt get the message.

Probably a bent pushrod if you have miss shifted at all but without hearing it who knows could be normal as ls1's can be noisey with piston slap or injectors or it could be a small exhaust leak from the manifold that seals up with heat

It could honestly be friggen anything i know. That's why its so hard for me to pinpoint it. Im a noob so just aimlessly looking for it isn't going to work. lol

Took it by dons today and everything is good. Just a little noisy pushrod ls1 i guess. No harm done. He said its actually quieter than some others he have heard. Thanks to don for taking the time to look at it for me and give me some piece of mind! Thanks again don!
