Rear Main Seal
So I pulled the flywheel off today and my rear main seal is leaking pretty bad. Should I replace the entire rear main seal and housing or just the rubber seal and push it back in with some schedule 40 4inch pvc like some guys do online?

beats me lol mine has been leakin on the s10 for like 5 years now...i just keep running it..never even thought about fixing it lol

ordered it yesterday. the rear main seal housing itself is perfectly fine so I'm just buying the seal itself and the seal to for the housing to the block. Theres no reason to spend another 60 bucks on just the housing when it is clearly made so you can remove the seal from the housing and replace it

dont pull the housing off the the motor unless you feel like dropping the oil pan. read the haynes manual theres a technique to getting the seal in without rolling the wire ring out of it.

got under there with a light and the gasket to the pan is torn too, gonna drop it and put a new gasket in because I need new motor mounts anyways

have fun. pulling the pan out is NOT easy on an Lt1 ypou need to lift the motor up with the tranny on it so it wont slide around too much. and drop the kmember out about 1.5 inches to get the pan to clear. all in all id wait do the rear mean Seal and do the pan wen you have a lift.
